The American Journalism Project (AJP) seeks a contractor or firm to design and develop a first version of a digital Resource Hub for its portfolio of nonprofit local news organizations. This centralized hub will provide grantees with access to curated Q&As, playbooks, templates, and other actionable resources maintained by AJP’s Specialized Support Team.
We’re looking for a partner with experience in user-centered design, information architecture, and platform development—ideally with a track record of supporting mission-driven or nonprofit organizations.
Project goals
- Create a user-friendly, searchable, and well-organized resource hub, serving as a centralized library for uploading and linking to various file types (e.g., PDFs, videos, templates). This will be a first iteration of the site, laying the groundwork for more robust development in 2026.
- Enable grantees to self-serve and access high-quality guidance and tools
- Ensure resources are easy to maintain, update, and categorize by the AJP team
Scope of work
- Custom implementation on a lightweight platform and/or workflow already in use by AJP and grantees (Notion, Airtable or another platform recommended by the vendor). Some needs include:
- Robust search and filtering capabilities, including filtering by theme, resource type, and date
- Admin backend that enables AJP staff to upload, tag, edit, and archive resources
- Authentication or access controls, if needed, to restrict or manage user access
- Ability to feature or highlight specific resources for visibility and relevance
- Work with AJP staff to collect and implement thematic organization of content (e.g., fundraising, audience, operations). Please note: you will not be responsible for creating content or resources.
Deliverables
- Finalized information architecture and user flows
- A fully developed, accessible, and responsive Resource Hub platform
- CMS or admin workflow documentation for internal maintenance
- Strategy memo on the next evolution of the platform
- Light user onboarding/training session for AJP staff
Compensation
$18,000, half to be paid upon contract signature and half to be paid upon completion of the program.
