About Dimagi:

Dimagi is an award-winning social enterprise and a certified B Corp and Benefit Corporation. Our primary product, CommCare, is the most widely-deployed open-source digital platform for enabling Frontline Workers. Since 2002, Governments and organizations across all sectors have built customized mobile, web, and SMS applications on CommCare to deliver services to underserved populations. Dimagi is more than a tech company. We are an impact-first team of compassionate people from all parts of the world and all walks of life, dedicated to using business as a force for good in global health and development.

About our SureAdhere Team:

Dimagi's SureAdhere team manages the SureAdhere, Dimagi’s Digital Adherence Platform. SureAdhere aims to provide health agencies, healthcare providers and researchers across the globe with a proven, cost-effective, and simple mobile method for supporting treatment and enabling virtual care.

About the Position:

Dimagi is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our 10-person SureAdhere division.

SureAdhere's development team is small, so everyone tends to have their hands in several pieces of the stack, while simultaneously finding certain areas to focus on more closely over time. We iterate frequently, both on the technology we're building and on the ways we work together. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys small organizations, multitasking, and a highly flexible work environment. Our developers collaborate closely with product and implementation stakeholders and have regular opportunities to interact with clients and see their impact first-hand.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build new features using modern best practices such as automated testing and devops, deploying code frequently
  • Own projects start to finish, iterating on implementation in partnership with Product, and not considering a project done until the finished product is in customers hands.
  • Support ownership of mobile platform management: monitoring crashes, planning around keeping dependencies up to date, responding to changes in Apple and Google policy, etc.
  • Collaborate with 3-6 engineers to unblock each other and collectively deliver product value
  • Contribute to a productive culture of code reviews, providing useful feedback
  • Set an example for all members of the engineering team for code quality and excellence
  • Collaborate closely with design, product, and other stakeholders, a multicultural team that spans the globe
  • Proactively communicate status, raise potential concerns about roadblocks, and contribute to solutions
  • Identify areas for engineering and process improvement, and propose solutions to the engineering managers/tech leads

Relevant Skills

  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Experienced in developing enterprise-quality software in a high-level language such as Python or Ruby
  • Comfortable working in a cross-functional environment that focuses on product over technology, with technical solutions supporting the platform’s goals
  • (Bonus) Familiarity with some components of our tech stack. We use .NET core, Entity Framework, Bootstrap, Angular, Python, Docker containerisation, Azure Active Directory, Kubernetes and TeamCity
  • (Bonus) Familiarity with Android and iOS mobile app development and the mobile app development lifecycle
  • (Bonus) Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • (Bonus) Enthusiasm about working in public health and international development

Benefits Provided

We aim to make a difference, not just as a company but also as an employer.
