Movement Labs is a movement incubator and the leading peer-to-peer text political consultancy supporting progressives and grassroots activists nationwide. Our clients span both establishment and movement efforts, from senior Democratic Congressional leadership to Black Lives Matter. Your work will help mobilize 100,000 votes in the top battleground states to stop Donald Trump and recruit thousands of candidates for 100,000 elections that go uncontested every year.

Your role will be to partner with our Senior Director of Data and Technology and our CTO to architect and maintain the robust data infrastructure behind our impactful outreach platform. This role is fully remote.


  • Manage and generate new ETL processes in GCP from several sources
  • Provide infrastructure support on data processes that support near real time analysis on randomized controlled trials
  • Create self-service BI solutions for reporting, analysis, and list generation
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers on the team
  • Data Quality: Implement data validation and cleansing procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our data assets


  • Passionate about Movement Labs’ mission, which aims to build progress by building local power
  • Well organized, detail-oriented and able to multitask
  • BA or equivalent preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with git
  • GCP Proficiency: Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), especially BigQuery and related data services
  • SQL Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of SQL for querying, transforming, and managing data
  • ETL Expertise: Extensive experience with ETL tools and best practices for efficient data integration
  • Python/Node.js: Proficiency in Python or Node.js for scripting and automation tasks
  • Data Modeling: Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and their application to real-world problems
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and services (e.g., Kubernetes, Cloud Run)
  • DevOps Mindset: Familiarity with DevOps principles and tools for continuous integration and deployment
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex data challenges

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with political or advocacy data
  • Familiarity with telephony or SMS data
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau)
  • Background in statistics or machine learning

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary of $100,000-$120,000 as part of a transparent salary structure with clear levels of advancement
  • Excellent health, dental, and vision benefits, 401(k) matching, work-from-home stipends, and unlimited Paid Time Off
  • This role is a cycle-based hire through November, but we hope to find opportunities to extend where possible
  • This position is not eligible for the collective bargaining unit
