17a is working to help an organization hire a Senior Director of benefits product development and customer experience. The organization is an action-oriented non-profit in a major southwestern city, focused on economic mobility.
This role will:
- Report to and work closely with the leadership of a nationally respected non-profit focused on the advancement of economic mobility
- **Work with leaders of internal initiatives and external leaders of various public benefits programs **to ensure that all eligible city residents have access to programs that provide critical resources such as nutrition, healthcare and other support that improves population health and provides the foundation for economic mobility
- Lead the charge on sharing progress and results with various external partners, including developing the thinking and materials that will best bring the work to life for various audiences
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategies across multiple stakeholder groups who support and advance the organization’s mission to implement equity-oriented, impact-driven programs
Core Responsibilities:
- Operationalize ideas about improved benefits access, human centered design and technology into strategy, plans and actions
- Maintain working knowledge of the current state of public benefit program access for city residents
- Identify gaps in access and technological tools required to create a strategic roadmap for the city to build a comprehensive benefits access system
- Cross-team and cross-functional collaboration to ensure engagement across relevant stakeholders to bring aspirations to life across multiple organizations and at scale
- Creating materials (including PowerPoint decks and other formats) to convey key strategic updates and results
- Playing an integrative strategic role to the leaders of a highly visible organization in the economic mobility field
Qualifications:
- Ability to start in fall 2024, on-site with the team preferred but open to a hybrid model for the right candidate
- Minimum 20 months management consulting experience, civic technology experience, or experience working in a fast-paced environment relevant to social services and/or benefits access and delivery
- Must be excited about working as part of a broader team, and thinking creatively about effective, equity-driven solutions

Total compensation for this role is $120-160k annually, commensurate with experience.
