OVERVIEW

The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) is the official arm of the Democratic National Committee responsible for planning the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago from August 19-22, 2024. The Democratic National Convention is the formal event where Democrats from all 50 states and the U.S. territories will gather in Chicago to rally behind the Biden-Harris nomination, celebrate our achievements over this past term, and chart a path for the future. Primetime programming will be held at the United Center and other party activities will be conducted at the McCormick Place Convention Center, both planned in close coordination with the Chicago Host Committee, City of Chicago, State of Illinois, and the Biden for President campaign.


The DNCC aims to build a platform for President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats to tell our story to the American people about a proven track record of historic accomplishments and the stakes of the election. The 2024 convention will pull in more Americans than ever before, bringing back the beloved traditions of past conventions and building on the innovative elements from the virtual convention.

SUMMARY

The Technology department provides the technical backbone of the convention and supports all departments and partners in their work. Our team is charged with the requirements gathering, procurement, distribution, and recovery of all technology solutions across all Convention spaces. This includes guidance and support around internet solutions, hardware, software, use of technology, streamlining processes, and leveraging available technology to improve efficiency of work across the convention operations. The Asset Management Associate will support the technology team in anticipating arrival of equipment and technology solutions, processing inventory in an organized and efficient manner, and working with the Helpdesk team and Project Management team to facilitate rapid deployment of technology and prioritize processing to align with team needs and urgency.

This is a temporary position with the DNCC, with a start date as soon as possible and an end date in September, 2024.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • The Technology Team Assistant reports to the Deputy Director of Technology and supports the broader technology team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates the Technology Team’s schedules
  • Handles all administrative tasks for the Department
  • Maintains and updates the Department operations plan
  • Prepares and distributes the Department's weekly team meeting agendas
  • Processes all necessary invoices for the Department
  • Coordinates all Departmental staff meetings
  • Works with Department staff to maintain archival documents
  • Works cross-functionally with various DNCC teams to execute day-of plans and logistics
  • Works with the Department on various special projects
  • Ensures end-user satisfaction throughout each phase of the Technology Team implementation
  • Additional responsibilities as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong attention to detail and exemplary problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Exhibit outstanding interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Maintain confidentiality and represent the Department in a professional, welcoming, and responsive manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to step into various roles as needed
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Previous event management experience is helpful but not required
  • Familiarity with Democratic politics is a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of Google Workspace
  • Experience with Slack is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sense of humor, and ability to work well on a team
  • Previous experience at National Democratic Conventions is a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The DNCC will mainly operate out of the Headquarters Office, but will also maintain a number of satellite offices and additional venues. All of these spaces are professional office environments, and will require the operation of office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines. This position mainly uses an assigned workstation but may require movement or maintaining a stationary position for short or long periods of time. Employees may be asked to do tasks requiring dexterity or lifting items weighing up to 15 lbs. All employees may request reasonable accommodation to perform their job tasks.

ANTICIPATED START DATE: ASAP

LOCATION: Chicago, IL

TRAVEL: There is no travel expected for this position.

FLSA ELIGIBILITY: This is a non-exempt position under the FLSA and is eligible for overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

SALARY & BENEFITS: The anticipated starting salary for this position is $60K. The DNCC offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance.
