Salary & Benefits: Starting at $47,609 plus competitive benefits including health insurance, dental, vision, a defined-benefit pension, and three (3) weeks earned vacation per year.

Purpose: This position is responsible for supporting all aspects of the Ohio AFSCME Retiree Chapter 1184 program. The incumbent will serve as the first point of contact for chapter and subchapter leaders, members and potential members, and the incumbent must promote the vision of Ohio AFSCME retirees.

Primary Responsibility: (Positions descriptions may not include all of the specific duties and responsibilities listed.   • Supports all chapter programs, meetings, committees, conferences, and conventions and assists with coordinating meeting logistics.
  • Processes new membership applications, current member updates, and other information in the chapter’s membership database.
  • Creates and maintains filing systems for various chapter records and activities. Sort, store, and retrieve information as needed.
  • Schedules appointments, conference calls, and meetings. Assists with the facilitation of web meetings and takes notes as assigned.
  • Answers incoming calls and handle request for routine information. Screen calls, route calls, take or deliver messages, and place calls as requested.
  • Performs and completes special projects in an effective and timely manner.
  • Updates directories, departmental databases, and committee lists.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of office experience plus general knowledge of office and organizational procedures or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills:

  • High level proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Access, as well as other databases and software programs.
  • Ability to use Outlook, including the calendar program, and perform accurate data entry into databases.
  • Excellent knowledge of office and organizational procedures.
  • Must be able to independently complete assignments and work under pressure to meet tight schedules.
  • Sufficient written and oral communication skills to exchange routine information.
  • Strong ability to proofread documents and compose correspondence.
  • Must demonstrate a typing speed of 45-50 wpm.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
