The Department Director is responsible for running the operations and processes of the fundraising and direct response department at BattleAxe Digital. This is a leadership position that reports to the Executive Team. Digital Fundraising and/or production experience is a requirement. Significant experience with both email and SMS fundraising programs is a requirement, direct response marketing and advertising experience strongly preferred but not required.

Description

Core Responsibilities

Responsible for ensuring peak performance and success of the fundraising and direct response department including but not limited to the following:

  • Serves as a thought partner for fundraising accounts leadership
  • Assists as needed with markee clients and accounts
  • Involved in cost/benefit analysis and ROI discussions for technology, processes, and hiring decisions
  • Leads the process of testing and finding new technology to support the Fundraising department
  • Responsible for client and program onboarding and role assignments
  • Responsible for department budget, related service invoices, contracts, and SOWs
  • Collaborates with the accounts team on acquisition strategy and leads vendor process
  • Leads strategy for non-fundraising texting programs; serves as a thought leader for advocacy texting; assists in program facilitation, budgeting, acquisition, and setup as needed
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating cross-departmental processes and procedures as they relate to fundraising or other related departments
  • Facilitates information sharing across clients regarding program and platform performance
  • Assists in projection process
  • Brings innovative strategies to BattleAxe departments
  • Works with accounts staff to ensure execution of the testing process for fundraising accounts
  • Strong experience with NGP/EveryAction or other similar CRM required. Experience with Asana, AirTable, Zapier, Looker Studio, Google Workspace a plus.

Staff Management

    • Mentors writers and accounts staff; guides their career progression
    • Works with the Managing Director on sensitive staff issues from members of the Fundraising Department
    • Manages the department-specific hiring and onboarding process for new team members
    • Works with other department heads and Sr. Staff members as needed

Business Development

  • Works with fundraising, advocacy, and advertising teams to find opportunities to expand services provided by BattleAxe to existing clients
  • Assists in business development for Fundraising and special projects

Salary

$96,000 - $102,000 per year
