We build and execute high-impact campaigns for advocacy organizations, campaigns, and causes that matter. We’re looking for a seasoned advocacy, accountability and direct response professional to lead our multi-service client teams.

THE ROLE
This is a Senior leadership position responsible for driving the strategic vision and day-to-day excellence of BattleAxe’s integrated client department. This person is an experienced campaign mind who thinks strategically, executes flawlessly, and leads people with clarity and confidence. They are equally comfortable in a client presentation, a creative review, and a staff one-on-one — and they bring the kind of judgment and instincts that can only come from years of real work in the field.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Strategy
- Work closely with BattleAxe’s advertising, media, creative, email, SMS, organic social and web teams to ensure seamless campaign execution
- Contribute to new business efforts, including pitches, proposals, and strategic positioning
- Represent BattleAxe externally as a subject matter expert
Department Leadership
- Own the overall direction, performance, and culture of the department
- Build and manage a high-functioning team, including hiring, mentoring, goal-setting, and performance management
- Establish and continuously improve departmental processes, workflows, and standards
- Collaborate closely with agency leadership on growth strategy, staffing, and departmental priorities
Client Strategy & Management
- Serve as the senior strategic lead on key omnichannel clients with advocacy, accountability and direct response tactics, guiding clients through campaign planning, message development, and execution
- Build deep, trust-based relationships with clients — acting as a true thought partner, not just a vendor
- Lead campaign strategy development from discovery through delivery, ensuring all work is grounded in smart advocacy thinking and tied to measurable goals
- Oversee the quality and consistency of strategic deliverables across all accounts
Campaign Execution & Creative Direction
- Bring a strong creative eye to all work, ensuring design, copy, and visual storytelling meet the highest standards
- Provide expert creative direction on digital content, paid media, and multi-channel advocacy campaigns
- Stay ahead of the curve on platform changes, emerging tactics, and the evolving digital landscape
- Translate complex policy, political, and social issues into compelling, accessible campaign narratives
WHAT YOU BRING
- 7+ years of experience in omni-channel digital advocacy/accountability. Must have experience with direct response marketing, paid media strategy, email and SMS tactics. Must feel comfortable crafting and/or approving complex advocacy, accountability and direct response strategy and plans for large clients that span multiple channels and tactics.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing staff in a fast-paced agency or campaign environment
- Deep expertise in advocacy tactics across digital channels — including paid digital, email, organic social, SMS, and earned media
- A strong creative eye with the ability to direct high-quality visual and written content
- Excellent client management and communication skills — you know how to earn trust and deliver results
- Ability to think both at the 30,000-foot strategic level and at the ground level of execution
- Experience working with advocacy organizations, issue campaigns, ballot initiatives, or progressive causes required
- Proficiency with standard digital advertising platforms, campaign management tools, and common data and analytics and reporting software
Exact salary and title commensurate with experience.
Range: $110,000+

$110,000 - $115,000 per year
