Help us build our brand, tell our story and engage our community. We are looking for a marketing manager to help drive and manage our marketing efforts across all channels from initial awareness and prospect to building sustained relationships with key targets around the globe.

The marketing manager will join our Partnerships team and work closely with the team’s Vice Presidents as well as our creative and strategy teams. Your goal is to develop and tell stories that help us build close relationships with prospective and existing clients and that enhance our reputation within the progressive marketing community.

You will craft the messaging and execute B2B lead generation campaigns across all channels, including digital advertising, social, email and events. You are a person who is both creative and analytical, and thinks actively about our target audience.

You’ll likely have experience in project management and be able to multitask and proritise a number of different projects and activity streams. You’ll have a passion for writing and bringing to life the work that we’ve delivered for NGOs, advocacy organizations and brands whose values match our own.

A day in the life

  • In collaboration with our creative teams, draft and develop content ranging from well researched reports and thought leadership to everyday marketing collateral such as case studies.
  • Collaborate with creative teams across design, video, campaigns and more to bring their work to life in interesting ways and develop ideas for how to break through a crowded landscape to reach our target audience.
  • Translate marketing campaign concepts into succinct and effective marketing communications across platforms
  • Take the executional lead in our cross-channel marketing efforts across social media, email newsletters, and targeted paid media, as well as supporting senior staff in our PR efforts.
  • Be trained in our CMS and CRM to make regular updates in our website and be able to implement email newsletters.
  • Support Partnerships team in applying for awards and conferences, as well as providing occasional project management support with key events.
  • Project manage teams and while working on multiple initiatives at once.

The Partnerships team drives Blue State’s growth. We are the face of Blue State to prospective clients. We build new and deepen existing client relationships. We help prospects see opportunities more clearly, and we help Blue State understand the challenges our prospects face. We find solutions to complex business challenges. And we work with our colleagues to persuasively articulate creative, strategic, and technical solutions to executives and practitioners alike.

We approach in-office working with a hybrid model. On-site presence is welcome for US staff who are within commuting distance of the NY or DC office. Managers retain discretion to require in-person attendance for folks on their discipline or client teams as necessary, including for those whose roles require them to be in person. To enter our US offices or attend Blue State events, staff and visitors must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including with a booster shot when eligible. Exceptions for protected grounds will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

The salary range for this position is $68,250-$80,000; compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Some things we're looking for

  • 4 - 6 years of working experience
  • A strong storyteller, skilled writer, a stickler for grammar, and understand the importance of well-crafted content as part of a successful marketing strategy
  • Prior experience with marketing tools (Salesforce, LinkedIn, etc)
  • A person who moves quickly, likes to create content themselves, and can work with a cross-disciplinary team; willing and eager to accept ownership for a variety of marketing projects as department needs evolve.
  • A person who shares the values of Blue State and our clients
  • Empathy, communication, respect, and the ability to act as a role model at BSD
  • Meticulous attention to detail
