About the Opportunity

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Development and Director of Marketing & Digital Strategy, the Deputy Director will plan, design, and execute all aspects of the Foundation’s digital strategy and grassroots giving. The position works collaboratively with numerous departments and initiatives across the organization and plays a critical role in securing the resources necessary to fund the Foundation’s programs and operations. The Deputy Director also has supervisory responsibility for the Manager of Digital Strategy and Grassroots Giving.

The primary purpose of this position is to optimize the Clinton Foundation’s digital strategy and engagement of grassroots donors and subscribers, including planning, developing, implementing, and managing the execution of digital advertising and paid social, search engine marketing (SEM), engagement, fundraising, email, and digital assets.

About the Teams

The Development team works to secure the philanthropic resources necessary to advance the Foundation’s mission through its programs and operations. The team works closely with volunteers and colleagues from across the organization to present the Foundation’s case for support through gifts, grants, and sponsorships. Team members collaborate to maximize engagement and giving from individual donors and institutional funders alike.

The Clinton Foundation Marketing and Communications team is responsible for developing external communications, campaigns, and creative content in service of advancing the work of the Clinton Foundation and understanding of President Clinton’s lifetime of public service. This team of communicators is comprised of writers, marketers, producers, media specialists, content and digital strategists, metrics and data analysts, and creative professionals.

Core Responsibilities

In this role you will work on:

  • Leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan for digital engagement and fundraising to meet the organization’s multi-faceted goals for acquisition, deeper engagement with its mission and priorities, and greater philanthropic revenues.
  • Leads the execution of digital engagement (e.g., paid social; SEM, etc.) and fundraising strategies and annual plans, including through email, SMS, and across the Foundation’s web domains/assets.
  • Responsible for authoring, co-authoring and/or editing fundraising emails. Advises on creative and technical design and other strategies/tactics to improve the user experience, their engagement, and likelihood to give.
  • Analyzes and reports on digital campaigns, including key performance indicators and other metrics to inform future strategies/tactics and continuously improve results.
  • Works with Development, Marketing, and Information Technology/CRM colleagues to analyze subscriber and donor data, optimize segmentation strategies, test, and iterate in order to drive continued improvement and growth in revenues.
  • Coordinates with Foundation colleagues to optimize affinity and digital organizing strategies with select constituencies, including Clinton administration alumni, CGI Action Network, CGI University alumni, donor groups, etc.
  • Directly manage one full-time staff member and support their professional development and growth.
  • Stays abreast of best practices and latest advances in digital tools and interactive trends and leads innovation and introduction of new acquisition channels and other approaches.

Minimum Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10 years of progressive experience in the field, with 5+ years’ experience in digital strategy and digital campaigns with a proven track record in grassroots fundraising.
  • Deep knowledge of the digital landscape, including emerging trends across social, fundraising, organizing, and paid communications, as well as an understanding of digital advertising platforms, costs, benchmarks, and strategies.
  • Experience with commonly used digital tools for email, volunteer recruitment, SMS, digital advertising and organizing. EX: Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Facebook Ads Manager, Google AdWords, as well as Blackbaud CRM, or comparable development data base
  • Deep understanding of the importance of analytics in fueling all digital decision-making. Excellent written and oral communications skills. The intellectual depth and curiosity necessary to understand the complex social and economic issues that drive the Foundation’s programs.
  • Strong resilience and change management skills. Position requires a highly collaborative approach to work and the ability to adapt easily to different structures, environments, and work styles.
  • Ability to function effectively within a complex, global organization. Strong interpersonal skills, collegial and collaborative, high energy, good humored and creative leader.

Compensation & Benefits

Our best estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is $110 - 120K annually, depending on the experience you bring.
