About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Director, Individual Giving and serving as a key member of the Development team, this position advances the mission of the Clinton Foundation through the engagement of individual donors. Specifically, this includes managing and coordinating the identification, segmentation, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors making unrestricted annual gifts of $10,000+, including building and managing an expanding portfolio of donors and prospects capable of making major multi-year gifts.
The Deputy Director of Development for Individual Giving at the Clinton Foundation is a proactive, confident self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment that values results. The Development team works to secure the philanthropic resources necessary to advance the Foundation’s mission through its programs and operations. The team works closely with volunteers and colleagues from across the organization to present the Foundation’s case for support through gifts, grants, and sponsorships. Team members collaborate to maximize engagement and giving from individual donors and institutional funders alike.
Core Responsibilities
Front-line Fundraising
- Under the direction of the Senior Director of Individual Giving, the Deputy Director manages and grows an assigned portfolio of individual donors and prospective donors with targeted annual and multi-year giving of $10,000 or more to meet established
- Leads the direct cultivation and solicitation of donors and prospects, including through in-person meetings, telephone, written solicitations/proposals, email, and other means tailored as specifically as possible to donor
- Works with the President, CDO and Senior Director of Individual Giving to lead the identification, qualification, and strategic cultivation of new, high net-worth individuals with both philanthropic capacity and propensity to support the Foundation at the major gift level.
Development Operations
- Manages the Foundation’s internal notification and tracking of contributions and pledges. Works with the Foundation’s finance team to track gifts and pledge commitments and reconciles gift activity with quarterly donor disclosure and other
- Collaborates on the Foundation’s gift acknowledgement
- Directs targeted engagement strategies and outreach, stewardship, and tailored events/experiences. Works closely with Senior Director, Individual Giving to manage logistics and cultivation of Foundation’s fundraising events.
Special Projects
- Assists the Senior Director of Individual Giving and CDO with any special projects, especially those related to individual giving, including but not limited to fundraising events, direct response efforts, planned giving, and any future development priorities and
- Participate in overall Development Team planning and budgeting as requested and manages expenses within budget and/or applicable policies.
Minimum Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelors Degree required
- At least 8 years of professional experience in the field in positions of increasing responsibility
- At least 3-4 of those years must have included either managing people or managing projects to completion
- Proficient with CRM systems, MSOffice, and Internet
- Knowledge of relevant analytical tools and wealth screening beneficial
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, and work on multiple time zones, as necessary
Compensation & Benefits
Our best estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is $108 - 118K annually, depending on the experience you bring. This role is not eligible for overtime pay. This range is based on NYC market rates and may be adjusted if you will be working remotely.
