Responsibilities:

Job Description

COURIER seeks a Social Video Editor to join its national content team, assisting with the development of daily video content, longer term concepts, and breaking news moments to keep social feeds populated with fresh and engaging material. The ideal candidate is someone who closely follows national politics and is aware of key figures, issues, and moments on the national political scene.

  • Closely monitor national political news for video or audio sound bites, download and rapidly edit breaking news videos for social media publication, primarily on TikTok and Instagram
  • Work with company leadership and communications staff to produce and edit footage from principals’ media appearances, speaking engagements, and other events
  • Work with internal and external talent to produce original evergreen political video content for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Assist with the creation of platform-specific social media copy to accompany all videos
  • Actively recirculate evergreen content across platforms

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Fine Arts, Political Science or a related field
  • Experience creating high-performing video content for organizations or brands
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube), algorithms, and best practices is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative mindset with the ability to generate innovative ideas
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe, Final Cut Pro, or other video editing software
  • Willingness to work irregular hours during select breaking news moments or key political events (i.e. conferences, presidential debates, press events, election nights, speaking engagements)
