Topline:
COURIER is seeking an experienced communications professional to drive Courier Newsroom’s national communications strategy. This role will be primarily focused on securing positive earned media for the organization, working with leadership to develop cohesive messaging across the company, and preparing written materials to advance the organization’s mission.
Role & responsibilities include:
- Work with the Courier Newsroom executive leadership team to identify proactive earned media opportunities - (op-eds, profiles, story pitches, speaking engagements, media bookings) across the organization
- Handle all inbound media requests for Courier Newsroom and its sub-brands
- Work closely with the Courier Newsroom executive leadership team to build short-term and long-term strategic communications plans
- Regularly draft talking points, briefing memos, and messaging materials for company leadership
- Proactively build relationships with and open new distribution channels for COURIER content to flow to the legacy political press corps
- Provide communications assistance to all company product launches and public announcements
- Ghost-write first drafts of op-eds and other forms of executive communications as needed
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of professional experience in a communications, public relations, or marketing role
- Express a demonstrated interest in the political and media space
- Previous experience proactively pitching stories to established media outlets
- Possess established relationships with local, state, or national media
- Maintain an expert writing ability and capacity for creative problem solving
The salary band for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 based on experience
