Data for Progress is hiring a Climate and Energy Program Intern to help expand our mission to empower movements using data. As an intern, you’ll work closely with Data for Progress’ climate team to advance progressive climate and energy policy, focusing on the implementation of federal, state, and local government programs for renewable energy, carbon removal, and transmission, among other issues. You will help execute and disseminate Data for Progress polling, research, and policy proposals regarding climate, energy, and the environment.
This position is paid ($20/hr) and fully remote, with the ability to work in person at our D.C. office if desired. This internship will require a commitment of 15-20 hours per week with scheduling flexibility depending on the candidate's availability and other commitments. This role will ideally begin September 3rd, 2024 and continue through the 2024 fall semester.
As our Climate and Energy Program Intern, you will:
- Support quantitative and qualitative research projects to further the implementation of federal, state, and local government programs for renewable energy, carbon removal, and transmission
- Draft survey questions, analyze survey data, and craft policy memos regarding climate and clean energy issues
- Conduct research on community benefits agreements and embedding community and labor benefits in climate infrastructure
We’re looking for someone with these skills and experiences (but you don’t need to have all of them):
- A passion for climate and energy policy
- Interest or previous experience in conducting quantitative and/or qualitative research
- Strong written, operational, and organizational skills
- Strong communications skills - you’ll be working with both internal and external partners
- Ability to collaborate with diverse team members and stakeholders
