Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action seeks our first Major Gifts Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, committed team, work in close partnership with the Founder & CEO, and provide critical day-to-day support to a dynamic, young organization that is mobilizing the American Jewish community to confront the climate crisis with spiritual audacity and bold collective action.
This role will create and implement a robust major individual giving program in support of a quickly growing organization that is building a spiritually rooted Jewish climate movement. The consultancy is intended to be ongoing, and the consultant will work as part of a development team including the Founder & CEO and Senior Development Manager.
Location: Flexible/NYC preferred; Occasional in-person work in NYC

Responsibilities
- Create a 2-5 year major gifts strategy, develop the major donor pipeline, and create and implement all major gift plans – in close partnership with the CEO and Senior Development Manager.
- Identify prospective major individual donors ($10,000+) with the capacity and motivation to make significant. philanthropic investments in Dayenu (5-10 prospects in the first year).
- Build and proactively manage tailored cultivation strategies for major gifts prospects.
- Devise and implement strategies to cultivate existing major donors, working to encourage them to make larger and/or longer-term investments.
- Secure one new six-figure donor or two new high five-figure donors in the first year.
- Identify, obtain, and implement the most appropriate screening tools.
- Track major donor relationships in existing tracking systems; create new major donor tracking mechanisms as needed.
- Provide the CEO and other staff with meeting and speaking engagement support for major gifts fundraising as needed, including background research, talking points, and development of collateral, in close collaboration with the Senior Development Manager and attend cultivation and stewardship meetings with CEO and other staff as appropriate.
- Manage ongoing communication with current and prospective major donors.
- Respond to major gift opportunities that arise.
- Work with Senior Development Manager to ensure integration and alignment of major gifts into the overall development operations.
- While the above stated responsibilities are expected, we anticipate that the Major Gifts Consultant will play a key role in shaping the role and defining its scope.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of direct experience proactively leading and managing major gifts ($10,000+) fundraising efforts including strategy development, identification, cultivation, stewardship, and tracking
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- A track record of excellence
- High emotional intelligence and strong people skills
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and good time management
- Organized with a keen attention to detail
- Committed to Dayenu’s mission and growing a Jewish climate movement
- Committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice
- Knowledge of and experience working in/with the Jewish community and/or social justice movements strongly preferred
- Experience and facility with CRMs preferred
- Excited to work closely with a small, spirited team building a start-up organization, including partnering closely day-to-day with the Founder & CEO
Compensation
The compensation range for this position is $60,000 – $80,000 annually (approximately 2 days of work/week), commensurate with experience. As a part time consulting position, there are no additional benefits associated with this position. This role requires full status to work in the United States and willingness to provide employment verification as required.
