Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action seeks a Young People Organizer to help build a spiritually rooted, multigenerational, multi-racial Jewish climate movement.
Grassroots leadership is the engine that drives our work. This role will directly organize, train, and support college students and young people ages 18-22 in the Jewish climate movement. We are investing heavily in organizing young Jews to confront the climate crisis, and the person in this role will play a big part in organizing people and developing leaders, as well as developing the structures and resources we need to continue growing in new ways.
Location: Flexible. This role can be performed remotely from anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities:
- Grow Dayenu’s base among college students and 18-22 year-olds and support and develop young people Dayenu Circles for across the country, including on college campuses.
- Organize young people to participate in Dayenu’s campaigns to address the climate crisis, including advising on campaign development and tactics as appropriate.
- Develop the organizing skills of Dayenu’s young activists and leaders through formal trainings, coaching, modeling, and active management. We are especially interested in developing the abilities of our leaders to recruit, develop, and delegate responsibilities to other leaders.
- Hire, train, and manage at least two part-time campus interns during the academic year.
- Build out a national leadership team of college-aged leaders who can organize and support their peers in their activism.
- Build and cultivate relationships with Jewish, multi-faith, and secular youth organizations and movements representing 18-22 year olds and college students, including attending and representing Dayenu at conferences.
- Work with our Communications and Digital team to ensure our communications resonate with young people and that stories of young leaders are reflected in our work.
- Work with the Young People Organizing Manager and Director of Organizing to bring shape and structure to our organizing model in ways that activate college students and 18-22 year olds.
- Build a vibrant community of young Jews addressing the climate crisis with Dayenu by convening them in online and offline spaces and facilitating connections between them. This includes spiritually resourcing this community and connecting them with our Spiritual Adaptation work and Jews of Color caucus as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to develop leaders and organizers through training, delegation, feedback, and active management.
- Strong ability to make and implement organizing plans, including crafting recruitment plans, delegating, and teaching leadership skills.
- Experience organizing from scratch and building up something new – including building a list, outreach through calls, emails, texts, and in-person visits, and developing roles and structures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering strategic and high quality work with integrity and good judgment.
- At least one year working with young people in a political or organizing context.
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships with partner organizations.
- Passionate about Dayenu’s mission and committed to growing a Jewish climate movement.
- Ability to communicate proactively, clearly, and in a compelling way both with colleagues and with the communities we’re organizing.
- A track record of working effectively with people across lines of difference and a demonstrated commitment to anti-racist practice.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends; ability to travel regularly to conduct site visits, lead in-person trainings, and attend conferences and retreats.
- Experience working in/with the Jewish community strongly preferred..
- Experience working addressing the climate crisis, including climate and environmental justice movements, preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $66,000-$74,000, commensurate with experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including vacation and sick days, national and Jewish holidays off, family leave, healthcare, professional development, a generous office/home office subsidy, and more. This role requires full status to work in the United States and willingness to provide employment verification as required.
