The Director of Operations aids the COO and Deputy COO in management of overall DNC operations which is not limited to new system implementation, training of staff on new systems and existing protocols, contract, vendor, and travel management. Additionally, the Director of Operations seeks to enhance the operational procedures, systems, and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, and reporting. This position works closely with the CFO, CSO, IT Team, Facilities Team, and the rest of the Operations Team.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Own the strategic planning and day-to-day management of physical security for DNC HQ as well as traveling staff
  • Manage travel operations for the organization and its surrogates including for large events and GOTV deployments
  • Oversee space management, daily operations for the DNC HQ office and manage the facilities team.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor the DNC Operations Team
  • Advise other DNC departments on logistics and project management especially around events, special projects, and scaling up their operations
  • Oversees the policies and procedures of safe, efficient, and healthy HQ and Field Offices by:
  • Training the Emergency Response Team;
  • Partnering with the Facilities Team to implement safety processes;
  • Ensuring compliance with State regulations for Field Offices;
  • Crafting and Administering health protocols based on the latest science and public health guidelines.
  • Facilitate the logistics of DNC-wide meetings, including but not limited to DNC Meetings, staff travel, staff deployment, staff appreciation events, and other events as necessary.
  • Research, recommend, and implement cost-cutting/efficiencies.
  • Project Manage DNC HQ building maintenance and projects in collaboration with the Facilities Team.
  • Drive the DNC insurance renewals process and own the relationship with the insurance brokers, underwriters, and insurance lawyers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer.

Requirements:

  • Ability to collaborate with and seek customer feedback from staff at all levels.
  • Must demonstrate outstanding judgment, analytical skills, keen attention to detail, and strong pursuit of accuracy.
  • Enjoy a fast-paced working environment, possess a sense of urgency, and serve proactively.
  • Possess leadership skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, computer literacy, and a good sense of humor.
  • Exemplify superior organizational skills as well as an ability to manage multiple priorities while simultaneously achieving results and work independently.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent computer, analytical and process improvement skills.
  • Comfortable accomplishing goals “behind the scenes” and prioritizing the needs of staff.
  • Five years professional experience or an undergraduate degree, plus a minimum of three years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • A self-starter who is familiar with campaign cycles or with campaign experience.
  • Demonstrated history in systems implementation. A deep commitment to Democratic values and work
Travel: The Director of Operations position will require travel, which could be up to 15% of the time.
Salary: The starting salary for the Director of Operations position is $95,000 on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
