The Deputy Communications Director serves under the DNC’s communications director, and oversees the daily business of the communications department.

Responsibilities:

  • Helps to develop the communications plan with the communications director, and work with all members of the team to oversee its completion.
  • Coordinate across DNC departments to execute on the DNC’s overall strategy.
  • Approve outgoing content across DNC departments.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 election cycles or 7-10 years of experience working in communications public relations, or public policy development.
  • Previous on the record experience required.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivated, self-starter able to work independently as well as collaboratively with the communications team and all DNC staff to advance communications objectives.
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines, as well as creatively solve problems and look for efficiencies and ways to improve the DNC's communications and systems.

Travel:

  • The Deputy Communications Director will require travel, which could be up to 20% of the time.
Salary: The starting salary for the Deputy Communications Director position is $125,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
