Position Summary:
- The Democratic National Committee’s Deputy Director of Direct Marketing will assist the Director of Direct Marketing in managing all aspects of direct marketing mail, telemarketing, and related online fundraising programs for one of the largest and most active grassroots fundraising programs in politics. This includes managing select direct marketing staff, working closely with agency partners and vendors, assisting with managing the budget and tracking expenses and cash flow, and managing offline direct marketing projects as well as coordinating on the full integration of offline and online fundraising efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Manage efforts to execute all strategy and operations of the direct mail, telemarketing, and related integrated online programs;
- Manage select direct marketing staff members;
- Assist with managing consultants, agency partners, and vendors;
- Coordinate with peers on the Communications, Research, and Mobilization teams to ensure tight messaging, creative integration, and a coherent narrative are consistent for supporters across channels;
- Ensure that the current messaging strategy is employed for all direct marketing campaigns, and in coordination with the Director, helps manage vendors and consultants for all direct marketing programs (including but not limited to direct mail, telemarketing, and related online campaigns);
- Utilize analytical skills to track, understand and make strategic decisions based on direct marketing analysis and statistical performance. Understands and engages on analysis projects to track long-term donor value, ROI, and retention rates of grassroots donors;
- Support the Director in creating and managing the direct marketing budget, including campaign performance projections and cash and expense flow; and
- Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.
Skills:
- Experience using data analytics skills, and knowledge of direct marketing statistics and benchmarks.
- Strong management and communication skills both with internal staff and outside vendors. You should know how to build a team, cultivate teamwork, and inspire others to excellence.
Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate will be a team player, faster learner, and self-starter; you are willing to work hard to get the job done.
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in the political realm and/or non-profit organizations.
- You should have deep and demonstrable experience managing direct mail, telemarketing, online campaigns and an expert level knowledge of fundraising best practices.
- Experience with complex revenue and expense budgets, including cash and expense flow projections.
- Ability to work from DNC headquarters in Washington, D.C., or willingness to relocate to Washington, D.C.
The starting salary for the Deputy Director of Direct Marketing position is $80,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends, and has an end date of November 15th, 2024.
