The DNC is seeking a highly motivated and resourceful Staff Attorney to provide key support for the DNC’s legal operations. Reporting to the DNC’s Legal Counsel, the Staff Attorney will provide accurate and timely advice on a variety of legal topics relevant to a national party committee and its political activities, including but not limited to negotiating contracts and advising on employment law and campaign finance compliance.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Provide counsel to DNC departments on a variety of legal issues, including but not limited to campaign finance and election laws and employment and labor issues;
- Negotiate and advise on a broad range of agreements on behalf of the DNC;
- Draft thoughtful, organized, and clear documents, including emails, legal memoranda, training materials, and presentations; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with attention to detail and accuracy;
- Ability to negotiate effectively, firmly conveying the DNC’s position, find suitable solutions/compromises, and evaluate relevant legal and political risks;
- Ability to quickly adjust to changing priorities and deadlines;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills; and
- Strong interest in and knowledge of Democratic politics and principles.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school;
- At least 3 years of experience in legal practice in government, a nonprofit, a law firm, or an in-house legal department;
- Admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar; and
- Experience building and sustaining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
- Campaign finance, data privacy and licensing, and/or employment law experience preferred.
The salary for Staff Attorney is $115,000 - $135,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time, exempt position. This position will be based at the DNC HQ in Washington, D.C., and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
This position requires up to 15% travel both in the Washington, D.C. area and across the country to attend and support meetings and events.
