The DNC is seeking Regional Voter Protection Desk Directors (RPVDD) to expand voting access and ensure that all eligible voters can cast a ballot and have that ballot count. RVPDDs are experienced and energetic voting rights professionals who will be the driving force for growing and maintaining voter protection programs across the country. RVPDDs will work across their regions to identify voter accessibility and protection issues and identify strategies for implementing desired changes.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to states to help develop new programs and/or align existing voter protection programs with national goals and strategy.
- Work with states in the region to develop proactive strategies to expand access to voting, including through legislative tracking and advocacy, administrative action, and working with election officials on election law reforms.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of the voting laws and processes for states in the region as well as triage and troubleshoot voting issues from the states.
- Identify trends across the region; engage with stakeholders on election administration matters; and share best practices for solving voting issues.
- Help programs in the region scale their efforts by leveraging the bandwidth and skills of volunteers and other stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Ability to work strategically and collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals
- Creative, versatile, and action-oriented problem solver
- Skilled project manager with an extraordinary attention to detail
- Adept at using data to inform strategy development, monitor progress to goal, and report on and analyze outcomes
- Work collaboratively with other departments, such as data, political, organizing, and communications to accomplish goals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience giving public presentations
- Juris Doctorate preferred, with a solid understanding of organizing principles
- Prior experience managing a voter protection program is preferred
- Knowledge of and experience working with national, state, and local organizational stakeholders engaged in electoral strategies and programs
- Proficiency and comfort with LBJ, VAN/Votebuilder, and Google Suite
- Ability to thrive in a face-paced 24/7 organization
- Strong commitment and passion in advancing the Democratic agenda, strengthening the Democratic Party, and winning elections.
The RVPDD position will require travel, which could be up to 15% of the time.
The starting salary for the RVPDD position is $100,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time, exempt position, and has an end date of November 15, 2024.
