Works hand in hand with the Deputy Communications Director and the rest of the states team to manage issues related to states and state parties, particularly in the South. The Southern Regional Press Secretary helps to support the work of state party embeds as-needed and organizes briefings and materials for state parties.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with managing state party communications, including regular briefing calls and materials for major rollouts;
  • Managing department-wide press materials for multi-state initiatives;
  • Coordinating with surrogates, stakeholders and elected officials in the states on earned media opportunities;
  • Bracketing 2024 Republicans’ travels to the Southern states;
  • On-the-record work and reporter outreach;
  • Drafting written press materials, such as releases, op-eds, fact sheets, and more
  • Performing other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in political communications or similar;
  • An ability and desire to keep up with the news cycle;
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills across multiple media; and,
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Management experience is preferred but not required for this role.
  • This position reports to the Deputy Communications Director.
The starting salary for the Southern Regional Press Secretary position is $75,000 on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Southern Regional Press Secretary position will require travel, which could be up to 15% of the time.
This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends and has an end date of November 15, 2024.
