Reports to: WI Political & Coalitions Director

Salary: $90,000 a year w/ generous benefits package

Location: Milwaukee, WI (Please note: Employment with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin requires residence or willingness to relocate to the state of Wisconsin.)

The Opportunity: We are seeking talent to help lead us to victory in 2024. We are looking for highly motivated, passionate, and talented Deputy Political Directors for the Coordinated Campaign who can help implement programs for stakeholder management, coalition outreach program, and our surrogates program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Presidential & Coordinated Campaigns to:
    • Implement the campaign’s political and coalitions plan that includes stakeholder management, a coalition outreach program, and a surrogates program
    • Craft and recruit into the campaign’s key coalition groups for events, earned media, and paid communications opportunities
    • Empower activists and coordinate with local elected officials across the state of Wisconsin
  • Assist the WI Political & Coalitions Director in developing storyteller & surrogate recruitment staff metrics to build an ongoing list of potential validators
  • Manage incoming storyteller & surrogate requests by working with political department teams to recruit through their networks
  • Assist the WI Political & Coalitions Director in creating national surrogate requests and managing trip logistics
  • Conduct additional outreach to support campaign programming and build trusted relationships with validators and community leaders
  • Conduct additional outreach as needed for programming and oversee a team of specialists to do so as well
  • Assist the Political & Coalitions Director in all Presidential & Coordinated Campaign event needs and logistics as instructed
  • Create pathways for members of various constituency groups to become more involved in the issue and electoral efforts of the coordinated campaign
  • Supervise and manage campaign staff to complete metrics and key events to support department programming
  • Other assignments and tasks as requested by the Political & Coalitions Director
  • Manage direct reports in all aspects of their work and support their success in the role by conducting relevant coaching conversations, providing and receiving feedback, and creating an inclusive and engaging team culture. More specific tasks could include but are not limited to:
    • Managing and reviewing time off requests
    • Hiring new team members
    • Having constructive conversations with team members on performance
    • Building rapport and trust within your team
    • Leading projects and delegating tasks
  • On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary

Qualifications (Required):

  • Demonstrated experience in working with multiple teams with different priorities to achieve a common goal
  • Demonstrated commitment to social and racial justice and an understanding of the issues facing communities of color, immigrant communities, and low to moderate income families
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with strict deadlines
  • Access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel statewide
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed including weekends through election day
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Management Skills - Able to manage relationships within your team, bring out the best in your employees, and treat employees equitably across lines of difference; including but not limited to feedback, performance, and engagement

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Experience effectively building meaningful relationships with Elected officials, local influencers, government agencies, businesses, non-profits, or community organizations
  • Experience in community outreach for a political campaign, government department, business or community organization
  • Prior experience in recruiting surrogates & storytellers for a political campaign or advocacy group
  • Experience in building & managing databases with complex information and tracking
