About Urban Sky:
Urban Sky is a venture-backed aerospace startup that has pioneered the adoption of the stratosphere as a vast and underutilized domain above civil airspace but below Very-Low Earth Orbit (VLEO). Urban Sky designs, builds, and sells stratospheric Microballoon systems to US DoD customers, and also uses these Microballoons as a platform for high-resolution (10 cm) commercial imagery collection as a novel alternative to aerial and space-based ISR collection methods. Urban Sky sends multiple flight vehicles to the stratosphere every week.
The imagery data collected supports a wide range of commercial remote sensing applications, from real-time wildfire monitoring to 2D and 3D urban mapping. The Stratospheric Microballoon systems have been adopted by multiple US government customers including the Department of Defense (DoD), NASA, and others.
Our team consists of engineers, developers, business leads, and manufacturing experts who all believe in the power of human potential when passion meets utility within a small, supportive team. At Urban Sky we strive to create a team culture grounded in candor, inclusion, respect and empowerment.
