Enveritas builds solutions to improve the measure of sustainability in agricultural supply chains and include smallholder farmers in responsibly sourced agricultural products, in particular coffee and cocoa. A key component of this requires financial investments in projects that demonstrate impact on the sustainability of coffee and cocoa production, from an environmental perspective.
We are a non-profit with a relatively small (but expanding) team working across 26 coffee and cocoa growing countries around the world, with a remote-first environment and hubs in diverse locations such as Uganda, Colombia and New York. Enveritas brings together tech and machine learning with rigorous field processes to collect and process data on supply chain sustainability and environmental impact. This is made possible by a dedicated and diverse team, with profiles coming from leading consultancies & banks, development organizations, commodity traders, data science and tech companies.
Enveritas is looking for exceptional talent to join our growing Impact team, including at the project manager level, i.e. senior associates or engagement manager level, with > 5 years experience. This person will be responsible for developing and running impact projects focused on carbon sequestration and reforestation. Significant experience in carbon accounting, carbon sequestration techniques, reforestation and/or biodiversity, as well as the ability to approach these from a scientific and quantitative angle will be particularly important. The role reports to the Head of Impact. This position is remote with a home base that can be discussed.
What You'll Do:
- Research and identify candidate reforestation projects to fund for impact in the agricultural sector
- Carry out impact & ROI evaluation and risk assessments on candidate projects
- Design the strategy and implementation plan, prepare the launch, identify and select appropriate 3rd parties, secure necessary permits and approvals, run pilot and test, coordinate public relations
- Run, monitor & evaluate, and scale successful projects
- Visit projects and implementors on site as necessary, supporting the field teams (but this role can be primarily remote)
- Interact across the organization as well as with external partners as necessary on the topic of impact projects
What You Bring to Enveritas:
- Min. 2-3 years of experience in strategy consulting or finance at the associate level, or equivalent experience in a fast-paced environment
- Evidence of more than 3 years of experience in industry, start-ups or research organizations, including in carbon sequestration, accounting and/or reforestation
- University degree in science or engineering
- A mindset that is rooted in the scientific approach
- Excellent analytical skills, experience with quantitative data analysis and large datasets;
- Ability to work independently and balance priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to structure sophisticated problems and communicate them clearly to management
- Ability to manage a multicultural team, remotely and/or in person to deliver on the ambitions of a project
- Proficiency in either French, Spanish, Portuguese, Swahili, Indonesian, Vietnamese, or other relevant language is desirable (but not required)
