The Director of Product Management and Insights drives the product strategy of FWD.us and unbranded web products in support of our website presence and presentation, policy campaign goals, objectives and key results, and key performance indicators.
The Director, Product Management and Insights is responsible for spearheading organization-wide product management, overseeing web builds and updates, and driving organization-wide technical system and process improvements.This role is also integral in evaluating the performance of current products against goals and recommends strategic improvements. The ideal candidate has successfully guided products from conceptualization to launch, while leveraging deep experience with technology products, possesses a keen understanding of the political process, and carries a strong passion for advancing the dialogue on immigration and criminal justice reform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the website stays up to date, reflecting priorities of the organization and goals.
- Work closely with Senior Leadership to identify high-value product opportunities and inform the overall vision and product strategy for the organization
- Work with policy experts, content creators, and digital campaign strategists to design branded user experiences within a mobile first web framework
- Manage product roadmap elements including feature prioritization, sprint planning, resource allocation, and delegation of tasks to ensure product development is on track; adjusting schedules and resources as appropriate
- Develop and implement protocols for web uploads/edits, ensuring website maintenance and implementation of requests
- Improve and maintain systems and processes to keep our product management lifecycle organized, accessible and transparent to both internal and external partners
- Build information architecture for existing and future products
- Specify requirements for current and future products by conducting internal (FWD.us staff) and external (partners, allies, or supporters) user research
- Communicate with Sr. Staff and campaign leads and provide a routine reports; including reporting on product progress to goal for KPI success metrics; tracking and dissemination analytics
- Communicate requirements to engineers and designers through feature specs, wireframes, and other UX deliverables
- Hands on leadership of product builds and product lifecycle from idea to launch
- Improve organic product reach and ranking through SEO including new products and existing product optimizations
- Responsible for setting complex short and long-term product strategies with far reaching impact and integrating strategies into broader organizational plans and frameworks
- Assist in the development and maintenance of email contact lists
- Staff training on key protocols to ensure redundancy
- Managing interns, consultants and vendors as needed
Other Skills and Requirements:
- Build product management workflows and best practices around agile and scrum methodologies
- Communicate needs between product team, digital leads and managers, sr. staff, and campaign stakeholders
- Experience working collaboratively with product managers, engineering, design and creatives, and digital campaigners
- Ability to lead product portfolios and establish and deliver on product goals across various advocacy and digital campaigns in service to both policy issues
- Expert with product management software and related tools such as Github, Asana, Google Apps
- Expertise or certification in product management and product development
- Experience in product strategy development and roadmapping tools
Compensation and benefits: Starting salary for the role is $100,000-$150,000; commensurate with relevant experience.
