In March of 2021, Grads Give was founded with the intent of changing the trajectory of our public high school students. Position Summary:

The Email Marketing Manager serves as the channel lead for all email and SMS marketing activities critical to the successful roll-out of Grads Give’s alumni network development and fundraising platform. Working within the Marketing and Operations team, the Email Marketing Manager will devise and execute email and SMS marketing strategies that engage alumni subscribers, convert prospects and retain donors to drive engagement and funds for the schools. They will partner with the Social Media Manager to support the online appeals through other digital channels. This role provides lots of opportunity to learn and iterate, thereby contributing to sustained growth for the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day execution of the email programs, including campaigns and other strategic channel initiatives to improve program performance through customization, automation and optimization. Our email platform is Campaigner.
  • Manage and be responsible for the maintenance of the messaging calendar, automated email messages, audience logic and other business rules, and software agreements.
  • Review deliverables, route for internal feedback, provide consolidated and constructive feedback.
  • Manage project timelines for the internal team and external partners.
  • Maintain and improve email templates (a graphic designer is available to the team).
  • Oversee campaign set-up for successful deployment.
  • Monitor expenses to ensure projects stay within budget.
  • Collaborate with the team on out-of-the box lead campaigns for a specific customer base and researches as necessary.
  • Develop budget forecasts and email marketing plans for fundraising and engagement in collaboration with marketing leadership to engage subscribers, convert prospects and retain donors.
  • Lead end-to-end execution of email set up in Campaigner, including list builds, scheduling and QAing emails along with any other required configurations (ex. A/B testing).
  • Create and implement testing strategies based on targeted customer cohorts and lifecycle flows with personalized content.
  • Manage and execute the measurement of the email channel, including development of performance reports and reporting cadence.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and pull key insights from testing optimization initiatives along with strategic recommendations for next steps in the evolution of the channel strategy. The ability to quickly analyze trends, provide insights, and make optimziations is critical.
  • Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams (program, database) on executing our marketing activations.
  • Oversee the health and deliverability of our IP addresses and mailing lists and recommends best practices for file hygiene to promote performance and optimized inbox rates.
  • Suggest content for email campaigns.
  • Supports the team with ad-hoc requests as needed.

Qualifications:

You are a data-driven problem solver, an email marketing subject matter expert, a team player with excellent communication skills and believe that Grads Give has the potential to positively impact high schools and students. Applicants must have the drive to get things done with minimal supervision, understand a project strategy in order to translate it into deliverables and then nail the details. We will count on your judgement in making operational decisions, keeping our schools’ and our own reputation and credibility front and center. A sense of humor, commitment to results, and willingness to adapt to the change inherent to a rapidly scaling start-up are essential.

Ability to work nights and weekends during Giving Tuesday and End of Year Giving pushes.

This position is virtual and thus, home-based. We meet in-person quarterly. Thus, Covid vaccination is required. Should you be unable to get the vaccine for medical reasons, let’s discuss.

  • Experience working in lean fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
  • Critical thinking and strong problem solving skills as well as the ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively.
  • Experience with reporting email KPI’s especially from fundraising and/or political campaigns.
  • Exceptional attention to detail. Strong communication, organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Excellent writing, editing and experience in developing creative campaigns and direct marketing offers which inspire action.
  • Proficient with HTML and/or other web languages required.
  • Experience in analyzing and manipulating data.
  • Understanding of how data is leveraged in an ESP for behavioral triggers and personalizing content, in addition to segmentation.
  • Experience with email automation tools.
  • General understanding of email compliance regulations for the US (CAN-SPAM and CCPA).
  • Autonomous and VERY adaptive to change.
  • A solid understanding of digital media and other marketing key performance indicators.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams.

Reporting structure: You will report to the CMO.

Location statement: Home-based with meetings in-person quarterly.

Salary: $75,000

Benefits: Stipend towards healthcare.
