In March of 2021, Grads Give was founded with the intent of changing the trajectory of our public high school students. We are looking for individuals who possess the entrepreneurial spirit, and want to be an important part of this early stage rocket ship that will change the future of public school education.

Position Summary:

The Social Media Marketing and Community Relations Manager serves as the channel lead for all social marketing activities critical to the successful roll-out of Grads Give’s alumni network development and fundraising platform. Working within the Marketing and Operations team, the Social Media Marketing and Community Relations Manager will devise and execute social media strategies, both paid and organic, to engage alumni subscribers and provide content for them to become Grads Give evangelists for their own schools. They will partner with the Email Marketing Manager to convert subscribers to donors and support the ongoing fundraising campaigns. This role provides lots of opportunity to learn and iterate, thereby contributing to sustained growth for the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the social media marketing strategy across all social media properties, in coordination with organization-wide and client-specific content strategy and marketing plan. Our primary platforms are Facebook/Instagram and LinkedIn, but we plan to expand to Snap and Tiktok next.
  • Develop and maintain social content to drive alumni engagement and coordinate with school liaisons to incorporate applicable content and curate for optimal engagement and action across social media platforms. Please note: content and interactions vary by high school, so the ability to adjust core messaging to reflect regional and community nuances is important.
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of the social marketing programs, including lead generation campaigns and other strategic channel initiatives to improve program performance through customization, automation and optimization. Must be expert in Facebook Ads.
  • Manages and is responsible for the maintenance of the messaging calendar, audience logic and other business rules.
  • Ensures ongoing maintenance of social media guidelines, best practices and administrator permission and roles.
  • Monitors the environment to identify trending topics or moments that may be opportunities or could represent threats to the organization or schools.
  • Review deliverables, route for internal feedback, provide consolidated and constructive feedback
  • Manage project timelines for the internal team and external partners
  • Oversee campaign set-up for successful deployment
  • Monitors expenses to ensure projects stay within budget
  • Collaborates with the team on out-of-the box lead campaigns for a specific customer base and researches as necessary
  • Develops budget forecasts and social marketing plans for fundraising and engagement in collaboration with marketing leadership to engage subscribers, convert prospects and retain donors.
  • Lead end-to-end execution of social campaign set-up in multiple environments, including list builds, scheduling and QA along with any other required configurations (ex. A/B testing).
  • Create and implement testing strategies based on targeted customer cohorts and lifecycle flows with personalized content.
  • Works with marketing leadership to create and establish regular reporting and analysis of social media metrics/KPIs to measure social media performance based on organizational goals of brand awareness and engagement.
  • Oversees school community management, inclusive of social media inbox, maintenance of community guidelines, and providing hands-on community management support.
  • Communicates and collaborates with cross-functional teams (program, database) on executing our marketing activations
  • Oversees and monitors engagement with our content and recommends best practices to promote performance and optimized interaction
  • Suggests content for social campaigns
  • Supports the team with ad-hoc requests as needed

Qualifications:

You are a creative problem solver, a social media marketing subject matter expert, a team player with excellent communication skills and believe that Grads Give has the potential to positively impact high schools and students. Applicants must have the drive to get things done with minimal supervision, understand a project strategy in order to translate it into deliverables, all while all while staying abreast of a quickly evolving social media environment. We will count on your judgement in making creative and community-facing decisions, keeping our schools’ and our own reputation and credibility front and center. A sense of humor, commitment to results, and willingness to adapt to the change inherent to a rapidly scaling start-up are essential.

Ability to work nights and weekends during Giving Tuesday and End of Year Giving pushes.

This position is virtual and thus, home-based. We meet in-person quarterly. Thus, Covid vaccination is required. Should you be unable to get the vaccine for medical reasons, let’s discuss.

  • A passion for business results that make a social impact.
  • Experience working in lean fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
  • Experience leading the development of integrated marketing strategies with a focus on direct response communication. Brand and non-profit experience is very helpful.
  • Critical thinking and strong problem solving skills as well as the ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively.
  • Experience with reporting social media KPI’s especially from fundraising and/or political campaigns.
  • Exceptional attention to detail. Strong communication, organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Excellent writing, an eye for design and experience in developing creative campaigns and direct marketing offers which inspire action.
  • An ability to synthesize the information needed to deploy marketing in the most effective and efficient manner, discerning themes that can be widely leveraged across audience cohorts.
  • Experience in analyzing program effectiveness to extract insights and drive measurable results.
  • Experience with social media community and platform management tools.
  • Autonomous and VERY adaptive to change.
  • A solid understanding of email marketing and other marketing key performance indicators.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams.

Reporting structure: You will report to the CMO.

Location statement: Home-based with meetings in-person quarterly.

Salary: $75,000
