Hours: Part-time position, 24 hours per month (approx. 6 per week)

About J Street

J Street is the political home for pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy Americans working for the future of Israel as the democratic homeland of the Jewish people. The organization believes that preserving Israel’s Jewish and democratic character depends on achieving a two-state solution, resulting in a Palestinian state living alongside Israel in peace and security.

J Street focuses its work in three main areas: (1) Advocating and demonstrating support for pro-Israel, pro-peace policies in Congress, the media and the Jewish community; (2) Endorsing and raising money for federal candidates who share J Street’s agenda; and (3) Educating the public and raising awareness of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the two-state solution.

About the Role

J Street’s Israel office is seeking a part-time, temporary administrative assistant. The person in this position will be responsible for the administration of J Street’s Israel office during the Deputy Director’s parental leave.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process invoices, bills, and bank transfers in a timely manner
  • Assist with credit card reconciliations (Amex) and employee expense reimbursements
  • Payroll and pension reporting
  • File accounting and HR documents
  • Communicate directly with the accountant in Israel and J Street’s finances team in the US as needed

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in English and Hebrew (reading and writing emails in English, reading bank statements and invoices in Hebrew)
  • Highly responsible, able to work independently and attentive to details
  • Available to work in person one day a week in Tel Aviv
  • Work experience in an office environment

Additional desired qualifications include:

  • Experience in financial and/or administrative tasks

Compensation and Hours

This is a part-time and temporary position. The start date is the first week of July 2024 and the end date is the last week of March 2025. The position is 24 hours a month (approx. 6 hours a week) and requires one day of in-person work a week in our office in Tel Aviv. The salary is 2,000 NIS / month. Benefits such as paid vacation and sick leave, paid time off on national and Jewish holidays, and pension are in accordance with Israeli law.
