About M4BL

The Movement for Black Lives is a national network of more than 150 leaders and organizations creating a broad political home for Black people to learn, organize, and take action. M4BL includes activists, organizers, academics, lawyers, educators, health workers, artists, and more, unified in a radical vision for Black liberation and working toward equity, justice, and healing.

Overview and Background

M4BL (Movement for Black Lives) will celebrate its 10th anniversary from late 2024 to 2025. As part of this milestone, we seek proposals from experienced accessibility consultants to ensure our forthcoming commemoration is fully accessible and inclusive for all attendees. Our goal is to create a hybrid environment that is welcoming and accommodates the needs of individuals with various disabilities, including but not limited to mobility, auditory, visual, and cognitive impairments. We are committed to excellence in accessibility and inclusivity, and we invite those with a proven track record in this field to submit their proposals.

The selected consultant will assess the event's planned activities, venue, and materials to identify potential accessibility barriers and recommend comprehensive solutions. The consultancy will encompass pre-event planning, on-site assessment, and post-event evaluation to ensure all aspects of the event meet or exceed accessibility standards.

Scope of Work

• Conduct an initial assessment of the event plans and venues to identify potential accessibility challenges.
• Develop a detailed accessibility plan, including physical, communication, and programmatic accommodations recommendations.
• Advise on the selection and implementation of accessible technologies and materials.
• Provide training or guidance on best practices to event staff and volunteers.
• Offer on-site support during the event to address any accessibility concerns that may arise.
• Conduct a post-event evaluation to assess the effectiveness of the implemented accessibility measures and provide recommendations for future improvements.

Proposal Submission Requirements

Proposals should include the following information:

• Consultant Background: A summary of your experience and qualifications in accessibility consulting, particularly for hybrid events.
• Approach and Methodology: Your proposed approach and methodology for making the event accessible, including any specific strategies or innovations you plan to employ.
• Previous Work: Examples of previous events you have worked on as an accessibility consultant, including outcomes and any client testimonials.
• Project Timeline: An estimated timeline for the consultancy, from the initial assessment through the post-event evaluation.

• Budget and Fees: Detailed pricing information, including any fees for on-site support and post-event services.
• Contact Information: Full contact details for your primary point of contact.

Selection Criteria

- Demonstrated expertise in accessibility consulting for hybrid events

- Creativity and effectiveness of the proposed approach and methodology

- Experience with and understanding of a wide range of disabilities

- Pricing and services offered

- References and success stories from past clients
