About Movement Labs

This is a contingency role in the event that Trump wins the presidential election. Movement Labs is dedicated to stopping the far right and saving democracy. We bring new thinking to the most challenging problems in the political ecosystem and rigorously test our ideas. We’re bringing in a senior leadership team to lead our work to stop Trumpism and defeat fascism.

About the Position

Movement Labs is seeking a strategic and well-connected Senior Leader to build the Align the Streets program. An effective movement is non-violent, disciplined, strategic and massive. The Senior Leader, Align the Streets will network with existing and new grassroots entities to support communications across issue areas, provide infrastructure, and seize opportunities for rapid response. They will also identify and amplify strategic frames and tactics, such as creating a set of anti-autocracy principles and birddogging GOP members of Congress to sign them, and countless other possibilities.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned movement-builder at the national level, who nevertheless has a deep understanding of the progressive movement beyond DC, with a proven ability to build coalitions, develop strategic campaigns, and secure wins at the federal level and in the public narrative. They are well networked, creative, know how to leverage grasstops and grassroots power to win campaigns, and not afraid to take risks and be innovative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Movement Leadership: You know what it takes to build and lead a progressive movement at the national level; and you’ve got serious policy, organizing and messaging wins under your belt.
  • Coalition Building: You are well-networked within progressive movement spaces at the national level, and you know what it takes to bring people together around common interests.
  • Creative Program Development and Execution: You’re a creative thinker who isn’t afraid to try new approaches to reach audiences and win your campaigns. You know how to get buy-in for a concept and work with a team to build out new campaigns.
  • Outreach and Mobilization: Design and execute mass outreach campaigns supported by Movement Labs, utilizing organized and other outreach methods to galvanize public opinion and pressure decision-makers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external partners to align efforts and maximize impact.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track progress, measure success, and provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding campaign developments and outcomes.
  • Resource Management: Oversee budget and resource allocation for initiatives.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience leading progressive movement work at the national level.
  • Strong track record of building coalitions and bringing leaders together around common goals.
  • Experience building and growing campaigns from scratch, from ideation to execution.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into accessible messaging.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing teams and driving collaborative efforts.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for outreach and engagement.
  • Previous roles in political strategy or campaign management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for progressive causes and commitment to social justice.
