We drive rapid-response campaigns at scale on a multitude of key issues at high-impact moments while building sustainable campaigns that resonate and grow over time. Whether its democracy, health care, foreign policy, economic justice, immigration or otherwise, MoveOn provides our members with timely ways to take action for change.

In this role, you will support and execute MoveOn’s day-to-day social media presence across MoveOn’s multiple channels. This is a highly executional role focused on coordinating posting workflows, as well as drafting/curating high quality posts optimized for reach and engagement. Through strong organization, attention to detail, and clear cross-organization coordination, you will work to continue growing our channels which serve as a place for folks to learn more about what is happening in progressive politics and how to get involved. You will ensure posts are on message and on brand. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, proactive, and excited to support the execution of MoveOn’s existing social vision and voice.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, edit, and adapt social copy in line with brand voice and platform best practices. Carry out research and fact-checking as needed.
  • Curate content that is aligned with our messaging and campaigns goals, as well as optimized for success based on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Support the social and content teams in coordination around the content production process.
  • Coordinate social post programming schedule across platforms.
  • Publish and schedule content using platform-specific best practices and social management tools.
  • Learn new tools and tactics to optimize workflows.
  • Continuously optimize content based on performance data, platform trends, and audience insights. Support community engagement by monitoring comments and messages, responding appropriately, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Track key content and social performance metrics on an ongoing basis.
  • Compile weekly performance summaries highlighting engagement trends, top-performing content, and optimization opportunities to inform future content planning.
  • Consistently monitor and engage in designated MoveOn Slack channels & fielding drafting and publishing requests from MoveOn Communications and Program staff members.

Required skills and experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in social media coordination, content production support, or digital marketing, preferably in politics or media.
  • Understanding of best practices, algorithms, and metrics of major social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Experience with additional platforms such as Threads, Bluesky, Substack, Reddit, and others is a plus;
  • Familiarity with social media management and analytics tools such as Sprout Social.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage many priorities at once.
  • Extremely organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Comfortable working within established brand direction and executing against established communications and campaigns goals.
  • Clear communicator who collaborates well across teams and stakeholders.
  • Positive, adaptable, and eager to contribute within a fast-paced environment.

Reports to: Social Media Manager

Location: Position may be based anywhere in the contiguous United States. May require occasional travel.

Salary and Benefits: At MoveOn, we commit to equity in our compensation philosophy and practices. We are committed to equal pay for equal work. To counter systemic compensation issues in this country and pay inequality, we have a nonnegotiable compensation practice. We utilize benchmarking and peer organization data to ensure we provide competitive nonprofit compensation and benefits. The annual salary for this position is $84,996.53. In addition to the base salary, we offer a monthly home office subsidy. We also offer an internet and phone subsidy of $2,100 annually and a health and wellness subsidy of $900 annually. All of these cash benefits are added to your bimonthly paycheck. We offer strong medical, dental, and vision benefits, which are free to employees and children of employees (spouses or domestic partners can be added at a subsidized rate). We offer employer-paid premiums for life insurance; four weeks accrued paid vacation time per year, prorated for the period that you work; 18 weeks of paid parental leave (birth, adoption, foster care placement of a child), 10 days accrued paid sick time prorated for the period that you work; paid family medical leave; and 8 staff holidays and 6 floating holidays (annually). We also offer a $1000 in professional development budget each year for each staff member.
