Who We Are

At Murmuration, we believe that America’s promise is shaped and reshaped by the best ideas and ideals of its communities and the dreams of the people who believe in a better life for themselves, their families, and each other.

We help organizations build power in their communities in four key ways: we organize a network of values-aligned partners; we provide deep, data-driven insights into people, places, and perspectives; we develop tools that make organizing and engagement easy and more effective; and we offer services that strengthen our partners’ capacity to build power and lead change in their communities.

We envision an America where every community has what it needs to help people lead healthy, free, and dignified lives. We work to redesign the systems and structures we all depend on — how we learn, live, govern, and solve problems — so that they are just, equitable, resilient, and rooted in shared responsibility. By strengthening the ties that hold communities together, we aim for civic life defined by collective action and care, with effective leadership that truly represents everyone.

We are a collaborative, curious, and creative team of organizers, scientists, teachers, technologists, campaign veterans, and more who share the unwavering belief that we can use our gifts in service of transforming America — together. We’ve built our team guided by the belief that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. And so we support each other relentlessly — rallying together to face challenges the same way we celebrate each other’s wins.

About the Position

We’re looking for an experienced VP of Growth to lead our efforts to expand the breadth and depth of the network we are organizing and equipping with insights, tools, and services to transform America. We believe our growth is an organizing challenge to bring together the communities of changemakers, community-centric organizations, and funders helping communities to build and activate power to reform, reinforce, and reshape the systems they rely on to thrive.

We need you to lead our efforts to build relationships across a broad set of interconnected communities and lead a team tasked with expanding and diversifying Murmuration’s network. You will drive a complex ladder of engagement in close partnership with our Communications & Marketing Team and focus on how we bring values-aligned changemakers and organizations into our network as Partners, ensuring we continue to equip them with the tools and services they need to help them build power more effectively. That is the work of proactive outreach, relationship building, key account and strategic sales, and being a visible and powerful force for helping us drive a new culture of co-organizing across the social impact landscape. Additionally, as our VP of Growth, you will be responsible for driving our revenue goals – both earned revenue through platform and services sales, as well as philanthropic revenue through creative, network-based development and more traditional grants-based fundraising.

In this role, you will be a member of the Network Division alongside our VP of Communications & Marketing (tasked with driving our brand and storytelling) and VP of Campaigns (tasked with helping our Partners meet key moments with powerful strategic support) where you will build and lead our Growth Team. You will work closely with Product and Success as we build our network with key responsibility for how we start new relationships and shepherd them across our organization to the teams responsible and caring for equipping and ensuring they are successful in building more power more effectively in the communities they are organizing.

If you’re a creative, strategic organizer at heart with deep capabilities as a business development leader and with experience working across sales, civic or enterprise tech, and philanthropy and social good — and you’re excited about using your skills to support a network working to build stronger, more engaged communities to transform the country — we’d love to hear from you.
