Senior Program Manager (Bilingual English/Spanish)
National Domestic Workers Alliance
Senior Program Manager (Bilingual English/Spanish)
Position: Full Time
Reports To: Senior Director of Worker Experience
Work Location: Remote
Start date: Salary: $89,116-$93,186
ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:
The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is the leading national voice for dignity, respect, and recognition for domestic workers in the United States. NDWA was founded in 2007 by organizers and worker leaders in six cities representing nannies, house cleaners, and care workers, and now represents an alliance of more than 76 organizations across 22 states and 395,000 domestic workers nationally.
We envision a society where domestic work is valued as essential to our collective well-being, domestic workers are leaders in shaping the care sector, and domestic work jobs are good, economically secure jobs.
For over 15 years, we’ve worked to advance our mission by making domestic work visible. We’ve worked to pass policies that enable rights and higher wages for domestic workers across the country, changed public awareness and opinion about the dignity and value of care work, and built the capacity and leadership of domestic workers to organize and advocate for their rights.
We see the next era of our organization as an opportunity to move domestic work from newfound visibility towards transformation, and we’re ready to elevate care workers to the essential workers of the 21st-century economy.
We’re a multi-racial, multi-lingual organization building a powerful movement rooted in the human rights, dignity, and equality of domestic workers, care workers, immigrant women, and women of color.
POSITION SUMMARY:
NDWA is a mass-based organization by and for domestic workers. We are working to be the home for all nannies, housecleaners and home care workers in the U.S. – providing information, resources and tools for domestic workers to achieve rights and recognition. NDWA seeks to grow our membership base and create opportunities for domestic workers to develop leadership skills and political education, then put them to use to advance the organization’s mission of winning rights and respect. In addition, NDWA is a democratic organization where members have a voice in the strategic direction and priorities, and where domestic workers are central to organizational governance. Our matrix of worker engagement includes programs for domestic workers to get oriented to NDWA and access valuable information and tools, commit to the organization as NDWA members, develop entry-level skills and then progress to more advanced roles in order to lead in areas including outreach, enforcement of rights, strategy and campaign development and governance.
NDWA seeks a skilled, highly organized and values-aligned Senior Program Manager to coordinate worker training and programs, ensuring that our leadership pipeline can flourish and expand. Using excellent project management and popular education program design skills, the Senior Program Manager will coordinate some of NDWA’s existing political education, leadership and workforce development programs, as well as develop new programs as needs arise. The focus of this role will be on broad-based, national domestic worker programming that builds strategic alignment, connection and community among domestic workers at scale. This includes coordination of low-barrier political education and workforce development programs, creating issue explainers on core NDWA issues, as well as leading NDWA orientations and onboarding. The person in this position will also play a role in facilitation of online communities, as well as strategies to move workers from online spaces into offline ones. This role will also supervise and support staff who administer NDWA’s membership program, including developing strategies to drive membership conversion and administer member-only benefits and other offerings.
This Senior Program Manager will work under the supervision of the Senior Director, Worker Experience, and will be housed on the Worker Experience Team, which includes the Digital Organizing Team, Membership Team, and Programs Team. In addition, the person in this role will collaborate closely with NDWA’s 35+ local, national and digital organizers, as well as with organizers at affiliate organizations. The person in this role will work in close partnership with another Sr Program Manager whose work will focus on training and supporting domestic workers in advanced leadership and governance roles.
