POSITION TITLE: Writer and Communications Associate
LOCATION: Open to any location in the United States; must be willing to work on East Coast time zone; must reside in the United States
STATUS: Full time, exempt
This position is included in a union-represented collective bargaining unit
START DATE: Immediate (job posted May 2024)
COMPENSATION: $53,000-$63,000 plus benefits, detailed below

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As part of the Public Engagement team, which is in charge of all NIF’s outward facing work in the US, you will be a content creator and storyteller for one of the most recognized progressive organizations. You will exercise your creative skills to write, edit, and innovate our communications and marketing materials. This includes emails, newsletters, website copy, and other public-facing web materials. You may also ghost write speeches, script events, and contribute to other content. You will contribute to the strategic thinking and planning of the Public Engagement Team. Finally, you will be the primary person working to build NIF’s English-language social media presence across priority platforms while maintaining a consistent look, feel, and tone for all social media content.
This position will report to the Senior Director of Media & Policy and work in close collaboration with our digital team, our regional and national event teams, and our proposal-writers in Israel and the US.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Writing & Editing
- Write beautiful, punchy, compelling content for print marketing and external communications materials like brochures, annual reports, and achievements pages
- Write cutting-edge web content about change-making in Israel and the work of NIF
- Employing best practices for email marketing, write and edit a variety of different types of emails including event invitations, fundraising appeals, and urgent action alerts
- Review and edit content produced by our Israeli counterparts and/or other leaders within our global organization
- Maintain a workflow and oversight system for content related to events throughout the organization including invitations and follow-ups, plus occasional scripting
- Collaborate with Senior Director of Media & Policy on internal and external memos, materials for press, and op-eds
- Edit and project manage bi-weekly email newsletter
- Social Media Strategy
- Manage NIF’s English-language presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other relevant platforms on a day-to-day basis to grow our reach among key audiences
- Create compelling social media copy to complement visual and graphic material created by other members of the team
- Identify opportunities for testing content and tactics across social media channels
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to craft compelling written products as might be produced in an agency setting or for a non-profit organization, NGO, or political campaign
- Exceptional writing skills with preference for prior experience writing for any/all of the following: web, email, marketing
- Highly skilled in editing for content, language, clarity and engagement
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage several projects at once, taking initiative and working both independently and collaboratively
- Familiarity with political realities at play in Israel and the occupied territories, and a passion for NIF’s mission
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and equality
- Energetic problem-solver with excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and perseverance
- Hebrew fluency is a significant plus, Arabic proficiency is a plus
- Graphic design and video editing experience are a plus
SALARY AND COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position is $53,000 – $63,000 USD annually commensurate with experience, qualification and skills.
