Position Title: Development Associate, New York/Tri-State Region
Location: New York, NY
This is a hybrid position with some in-office work days and some work-from-home days each week; office is located in midtown Manhattan
Start Date: Immediate (position posted June 2024)
Status: Full time, non-exempt (eligible for overtime)
This position is included in a union-represented collective bargaining unit
Compensation: $51,500-$57,500 plus benefits, detailed below

Position Overview
The Development Associate is an essential member of a 4-person fundraising team and provides administrative support to the fundraising, programmatic, and communication work of the New York / Tri-State region. Additionally, they will provide direct support to the Senior Regional Director. The right person for this job will be organized, reliable, and have strong communication skills.


Responsibilities

  • Provide essential administrative support for the New York regional fundraising efforts, including gift processing, tracking donations, and donor relations;
  • Update and manage donor database; create and maintain various reports and mailing lists to track fundraising activities;
  • Provide logistical support for regional programs including catering, liaising with host organization(s), marketing and email communications, managing tasks for the whole team, and occasionally attending programs to provide on the ground support;
  • Conduct prospect research and manage the donor prospect pipeline, including major gift prospects;
  • Provide meticulous donor care, including responding to phone calls and emails, writing and mailing acknowledgment letters, and other correspondence as needed;
  • Support the day-to-day operations for the Senior Director; act as the first point of contact, screening telephone calls, inquiries, and requests, coordinate calendar and travel arrangements as needed, prepare invoices and expense reports;
  • Support the Senior Director and NY development staff in briefing for meetings and tracking follow-up tasks;
  • Provide support for grant proposals and reports for the New York team, including managing deadlines, preparing, and editing correspondence;
  • Coordinate NY staff meetings for the team and with other members of the US senior staff;
  • Assist in daily office support, such as answering phones and greeting visitors, processing checks, and preparing gift forms;
  • Work collaboratively with local and national NIF staff;
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage several projects at one time
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, meet deadlines, and be a team player
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with colleagues and volunteers
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Interest and aptitude to learn job-specific computer programs such as EveryAction and Raiser’s Edge
  • Competency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, general Drive organization); experience in creating and analyzing spreadsheets
  • Previous experience with CRM is highly desirable
  • Experience in program or event planning a plus
  • Interest in Israel/Palestine, human rights, civil rights, current international socio-political events, and social justice issues preferred

Reporting & Supervisory Relationships
This position reports to the Senior Regional Director, New York/Tri-State Region.

Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $51,500 – $57,500 USD annually commensurate with experience, qualification, and skills.
