ABOUT THE ROLE

At New Story, we’re pioneering solutions to end the global housing crisis by empowering families to become land and homeowners in thriving communities. We recently launched our first impact investment fund to finance land development for underserved families in Latin America. Our innovative strategy enables families in emerging markets to purchase property for the first time—unlocking homeownership and building generational wealth.

The Fund Finance & Operations Manager will lead fund-level portfolio management by analyzing investment performance, developing financial models, and managing currency and valuation risks. This team member will also oversee fund operations, including capital flows and third-party relationships, ensuring accurate NAV calculations and system integration. They will deliver comprehensive financial reporting, ensure compliance, and execute strategic initiatives. This entrepreneurial role calls for a proactive, detail-oriented finance professional who is excited to build scalable systems and play a key role in driving the fund’s growth and lasting impact.

WHERE YOU'LL FOCUS

Portfolio Management & Investment Analysis

  • Lead fund-level portfolio management by monitoring investment performance, consolidating analysis, and integrating project-level reporting from the investments team to provide comprehensive insights on risks and opportunities.

  • Build and maintain portfolio sensitivity and scenario models to assess hypothetical performance under varying market and operational conditions.

  • Design, implement, and manage FX hedging strategies to mitigate currency risk across a multi-currency portfolio.

  • Develop and oversee valuation processes—including project-level valuations, adjustments, and third-party appraisals.

  • Lead timely and accurate NAV calculations in alignment with fund policies and industry best practices, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and consistency in all valuation activities.

Fund Operations & Capital Management

  • Manage day-to-day fund operations, including capital calls, distributions, and waterfall calculations, in accordance with fund structure.

  • Oversee third-party fund administrators, trustees, and service providers; maintain strong relationships and ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Monitor investment capital flows and liquidity, analyze variances against budgets, and ensure sufficient cash availability for expenses, deployments, and distributions.

  • Manage currency hedging transactions, monitor exposures, and coordinate settlement processes.

  • Partner with the Global Controller and external accountants to ensure full integration with ERP systems and organization-wide financial infrastructure; assist in continuous process improvement.

Financial Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare accurate, timely, and insightful financial reports for Limited Partners and internal stakeholders.

  • Support investor communications, presentations, and due diligence requests.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Draft and maintain fund policies, procedures, and memos aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Design and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure reporting accuracy, and uphold regulatory compliance.

  • Stay current on relevant accounting standards, fund regulations, and best practices; proactively lead implementation of applicable changes.

  • Act as a primary liaison with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and facilitate efficient audits.

Strategic Support

  • Support the CFO on broader financial planning and analysis (FP&A) initiatives for the New Story organization, contributing financial insights and cross-functional collaboration.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting or related field required; advanced degree or CFA/CIMA preferred.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in fund operations, investment finance, or financial management—preferably in impact investing, private equity, real estate, or venture capital.

  • Strong grasp of fund structures, capital flows, valuation, currency hedging, investment vehicles, and cross-border financial operations.

  • Skilled in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and portfolio performance reporting.

  • Proactive leader with high attention to detail, strong judgment, and a bias toward action.

  • Comfortable working in dynamic, entrepreneurial environments and across international contexts.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience presenting to senior stakeholders and investors.

  • Spanish proficiency is a strong plus.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

LOCATION & COMPENSATION

This is a remote role based in the United States. We are prioritizing applicants in the Pacific, Mountain, and Central timezones. We will prioritize applicants in Austin, TX. Our annual salary range for this role is $120,000-$150,000 gross USD/year.

Summer and Winter Time Off. We believe rest is critical to getting results. We intentionally pause as a whole company twice per year. Team members take off the first week of July as well as a the week between December 24 and January 1.

5-Week Sabbatical after 5th Year. At the 5-year mark, we celebrate your hard work and dedication with a sabbatical. Team members take 5 weeks off fully paid to rest, recharge, and reflect.

Paid Parental Leave. Primary caregivers take 12 weeks paid time off. Secondary caregivers take 6 weeks paid time off.

Adoption Reimbursement. For families who are willing to adopt, thank you! New Story will reimburse eligible team members up to $10,000.00 USD for adoption related expenses.

401k Investment Plan. New Story offers 401k investment plan so you can save money for the long-term.

Intentional Gatherings. As a remote team, we recognize how valuable and rejuvenating in-person time can be. Whether it’s an all-company Team Summit, Fun Camp for fundraisers, or spontaneous department gatherings, we set aside budget to gather in-person to have fun, reflect, and plan together.

Trips to the Field. It’s amazing to meet the families we help and see the homes up close and personal. You'll get to visit the work first hand in either Mexico or El Salvador. Prioritization will vary by role.
