THE ROLE:

NextGen is seeking a dynamic and innovative Vice President of Digital Organizing to join our HQ team as a department head and a member of the senior staff team. This individual will spearhead our digital and distributed organizing efforts, a role at the heart of our mission to engage and mobilize young voters. From managing our email and SMS programs to overseeing social media and website content, you’ll lead campaigns that inspire action and drive results. Additionally, you’ll guide and support a distributed team to build a robust network of volunteer leaders, ensuring alignment with our organizational goals and fostering a collaborative team culture.

WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE:

Digital:

  • Develop and implement digital media and organizing strategies for NextGen
  • Spearhead digital campaigns via actions on our website, such as petitions and advocacy forms
  • Set up phone lines and calling campaigns via digital tools
  • Coordinate with field team and coalition partners to brainstorm effective and thoughtful ways to launch targeted campaigns for our audience
  • Lead NextGen America’s broadcast SMS outreach to subscribers, including writing and setting up outgoing messages, launch keywords to advertise and manage SMS broadcast calendar
  • Manage NextGen America’s email program by serving as lead writer, oversee checklisting/QA process and manage email calendar
  • Serves as lead manager of ED social media accounts dedicated to growing online following across various platforms
  • Oversee our collection of actions and voter information resources on our website
  • Create & execute individualized content & social media plans for multiple campaigns
  • Manage relationships with vendors for digital tools
  • Review, advise, draft, and execute outbound content, web content & digital marketing plans when necessary for relevant programs

Distributed

  • Spearhead the planning and execution of the distributed team’s voter engagement strategy, ensuring clear timelines, measurable goals and alignment with overall program objectives.
  • Oversee and support the Distributed Organizing Director in building and sustaining a network of volunteer leaders, ensuring they are empowered to take ownership of organizing efforts via the phone, phone texting and social teams.
  • Supervise and mentor the Distributed Organizing Director and their team, fostering a high performing, motivated team culture, and providing professional growth opportunities
  • Determine weekly and monthly goals/metrics and establish accountability systems to ensure goals are met
  • Advise and approve program plans and public-facing materials
  • Responsible for program budgets to ensure that resources are spent efficiently
  • Help the organization develop creative strategies for campaigns to achieve our mission, with input from key stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with other departments (programs ,data, comms, partnerships, etc.) to ensure integrated, cohesive campaigns that reflect the broader goals of the program and organization.

ABOUT YOU:

  • At least 3 cycles of experience in political campaigns in field director or campaign management position
  • At least 6 years of experience managing staff
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Mobilize, VAN, voter files, targeting, and voter contact platforms
  • The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, and demonstrate a clear ability to adapt rapidly to evolving priorities and deadlines
  • Must have a strong work ethic and demonstrate consistent attention to detail
  • Be a positive, unselfish team player that sets the tone for everyone to do their best work.

SALARY INFORMATION:

The starting salary range for this position is $132,000-$158,000. The final base salary will be determined by various factors, including individual qualifications and internal parity, which will be objectively assessed during the interview process.
