As we continue to grow, we are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support our Corporate Controller.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated accounting professional to join our growing team. This role will work closely with the Controller and be cross-trained in all core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, project accounting support, and timesheet review. The position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly close, and ensuring the smooth operation of the accounting department.

• • Assist Controller with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy
  • Assist with financial reports and supporting schedules
  • Support audit requests and documentation preparation
  • Accounts Payable Support

• Serve as backup for AP processing, including:
  • Vendor invoice entry
  • Payment processing
  • Vendor communication
  • Credit card reconciliations
  • Accounts Receivable Support

• Serve as backup for AR functions, including:
• Client invoice preparation and distribution
• Cash receipt application
• Monitoring aging reports
• Assisting with collections follow-up as needed
• Project Accounting & Timesheets
• Review employee timesheets for accuracy and completeness
• Ensure proper project and labor coding
• Assist with labor and cost tracking
• Support project billing and reporting processes

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist with process improvements and documentation
• Support payroll preparation and review as needed
• Maintain organized accounting files and records
• Provide support for special projects and reporting as assigned

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting or related field preferred. Must have completed some accounting coursework
• Associate’s degree with relevant experience considered

Experience

• 3–5 years of accounting experience preferred
• Experience in professional services, engineering, architecture, or consulting firm highly desirable.
• Experience with project-based accounting a plus

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of accounting principles
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with accounting software (Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint Preferred)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
