About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and politically savvy Digital Content Manager to lead the creation, management, and optimization of digital content for our political campaigns and advocacy initiatives. This role is critical for shaping public perception, driving engagement, and mobilizing supporters across multiple digital platforms. The ideal candidate understands the fast-paced nature of political work, can translate complex policy issues into compelling content, and thrives in a collaborative yet high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive digital content strategy aligned with campaign goals, target audiences, and political messaging.
  • Create content calendars that coordinate with campaign milestones, press events, and fundraising cycles.
  • Ensure all messaging is on-brand, values-driven, and politically consistent.

Content Creation & Management

  • Produce high-quality written, visual, and video content for platforms including Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and campaign websites.
  • Draft press statements, talking points, and op-eds for digital use in coordination with the communications team.
  • Oversee email campaigns, including copywriting, design coordination, A/B testing, and performance tracking.
  • Manage graphic design needs (in-house or with contractors) for ads, social posts, and digital literature.

Community Engagement & Social Media

  • Monitor, post, and engage on social platforms in real-time during campaign events.
  • Develop strategies for organic and paid social growth, including targeted ad campaigns.
  • Respond to supporters, influencers, and journalists in a timely, brand-aligned manner.

Data & Analytics

  • Track, analyze, and report on digital engagement metrics, audience growth, and content performance.
  • Use data insights to refine strategies, optimize content, and improve engagement.
  • Stay updated on platform algorithm changes, emerging political digital trends, and best practices.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with field, communications, policy, and fundraising teams to ensure messaging consistency.
  • Coordinate with designers, videographers, and digital ad vendors to produce compelling content.
  • Assist in crisis communications response on digital platforms.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in digital content creation, preferably in political campaigns, advocacy, or cause-based organizations.
  • Proven ability to write persuasively, adapt tone for different audiences, and adhere to brand voice.
  • Strong understanding of social media algorithms, ad targeting, and digital organizing tools.
  • Proficiency with content creation software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and familiarity with CMS platforms.
  • Experience using email platforms (NGP VAN, ActionNetwork, Mailchimp, etc.).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during campaign season.

Preferred:

  • Experience working on Bay Area or California political campaigns.
  • Understanding of California’s political landscape, voter demographics, and issue priorities.
  • Video editing skills (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or similar).
  • Fluency in Spanish, Cantonese, or another language spoken in the Bay Area.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $75,000 – $95,000/year, commensurate with experience.
