Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, community-focused Coordinator to support the planning, execution, and evaluation of local events and engagement activities. This role is ideal for someone passionate about grassroots work, relationship-building, and creating opportunities for residents to connect, collaborate, and thrive. The ideal candidate is proactive, reliable, and comfortable partnering with donors, community leaders, volunteers, and resides commutable distance within or near San Jose.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and implement community events, workshops, and outreach activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local leaders, partner organizations, donors, and volunteers.
- Assist with donor engagement, including communications, event support, and stewardship activities.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for events and initiatives.
- Develop outreach materials and messaging to promote programs and increase community participation.
- Track event metrics, maintain organized records, and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Support grant writing, reporting, and other development tasks as needed.
- Represent Back to Basics San Jose at community meetings, gatherings, and public events.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years experience in political office, campaign, or events role
- Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfort working with diverse communities.
- Experience in community organizing, public service, volunteer coordination, or related fields (preferred).
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with San Jose communities and local civic landscape is a plus.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for community events.
