YOUR OPPORTUNITY

As the Global Corporate Relations Manager, you will lead THL’s engagement with food companies worldwide, advancing policies that improve farm animal welfare across global supply chains. In this role, you will manage and mentor a high performing Corporate Relations team, oversee complex international initiatives, and ensure THL’s corporate engagement strategies are executed effectively across global regions.

This role blends strategic leadership, operational oversight, and relationship management. You will drive high-stakes negotiations, identify opportunities to strengthen global partnerships, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maximize impact. By guiding team development, optimizing processes, and aligning efforts with organizational goals, you will help shape THL’s global influence in the food industry through strong execution, cross-regional alignment, and external engagement in coalition spaces. This role requires a leader who can engage a recently restructured team, cultivate a positive team culture, and establish trust while fostering collaboration and resilience across a globally distributed group.

This is a full-time, remote position reporting to the Associate Director of Corporate Relations. To the extent permitted by law, in order to enable collaboration with other global team members, you may be required to work occasional hours outside of 9am - 5pm, depending on your time zone. This position requires domestic and/or international travel, this is equivalent to approximately 4-6 weeks of travel trips per year, including staff retreats, global summits, and in-person corporate engagements.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

People management

  • Lead and manage Corporate Relations team members by setting goals, monitoring performance, and driving accountability to ensure strong results and continuous professional development.
  • Coach and develop team members through mentorship, constructive feedback, and skills development fostering a culture of resilience, collaboration, and psychological safety within a globally distributed team.
  • Ensure Corporate Relations team have proper training, resources, and tools to effectively engage with food companies and secure animal welfare victories.
  • Lead onboarding and integration of new team members across regions to promote strong alignment, capability-building, and team cohesion when needed.

Drive policy wins through effective outreach & negotiations

  • Conduct senior-level outreach to global food companies to advance protections for farm animals within their supply chains. Attend meetings with food companies with employees as needed. Serve as a senior-level expert on the broader industry landscape, corporate relations and negotiations strategies, and the nuances of the animal welfare policies we request of companies.
  • Support the team’s communications to food companies and new corporate relations strategies and tactics.
  • Collaborate with team leadership (including the Associate Director of Corporate Relations) to develop and implement global corporate relations strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Lead execution of global corporate engagement strategies within assigned regions, adapting tactics as necessary to advance policy goals and respond to shifting corporate landscapes.
  • Manage the overall performance of our efforts to develop relationships with and engage key food companies. Regularly assess progress and identify opportunities to pivot to ensure we are on track to achieve our policy goals.

Facilitate collaboration

  • Coordinate with the Associate Directors of Corporate Relations and Campaigns to align on priorities, target selection, and other strategic opportunities.
  • Ensure our Corporate Relations data, including policy victories and dialogue status, is maintained, up to date, and readily available for the use of other teams, coalition partners, and other occasional needs.
  • Coordinate with global corporate relations teams to align on company engagement, priorities, and resource management.
  • Maintain regular contact with our global partners to align on corporate engagement strategies and key policy decisions.
  • Represent THL in global coalition spaces and partner forums, strengthening alignment, maintaining credibility, and advancing shared corporate engagement objectives.
  • Keep OWA informed of our progress with global companies.
  • Lead efforts to identify opportunities for process optimization and implement best practices that improve the efficiency of the Corporate Relations team. Analyze existing workflows, propose enhancements, and work with relevant teams to streamline processes, ensuring that time and resources are utilized effectively.

In addition to the above essential job duties, other duties may be assigned as business needs arise. These may include non-essential, marginal job duties.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in corporate relations, stakeholder engagement, or a similar field, with proven ability to engage key corporate stakeholders and negotiate effectively to advance organizational goals. Knowledge of the food industry and its various sectors, animal welfare policies, and the global corporate relations landscape across AR organizations preferred.
  • Management & Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop diverse, globally distributed teams, fostering resilience, high performance, and strong collaboration through mentorship, diplomacy, and emotional intelligence. Experience managing geographically distributed or global teams preferred.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships effectively. Proven ability to engage, influence, and build long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including senior-level corporate contacts, while balancing diverse priorities.
  • Communication: Solid written and verbal communication: able to present our message professionally in both written and oral formats, e.g. emails, public presentations, and high-pressure meetings with corporate executives. Ability to represent THL confidently externally to corporate contacts and in coalition settings.
  • Project Management, Time Management & Prioritization: Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Balance multiple projects and tasks, ensuring that deadlines are met and resources are allocated efficiently. Adjust priorities based on shifting business needs and project goals.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to think strategically and align corporate relations efforts with broader organizational policy goals. Ability to translate organizational strategy into actionable regional execution plans. Proven ability to assess initiatives and adapt strategies as necessary.
  • Data Management and Process Improvement: Ability to manage and analyze corporate relations data, ensuring that information is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible. Lead efforts to improve processes and streamline workflows, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the team’s corporate engagement initiatives. Use data insights to adjust strategies and improve performance.
  • Interpersonal Skills (EQ, Empathy): Strong emotional intelligence, with the ability to foster positive working relationships within the team and with external stakeholders. Demonstrate empathy and understanding in interactions, providing constructive feedback and support to team members while maintaining a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Comfort operating in a multicultural and cross-regional environment with sensitivity to global perspectives.
  • Initiative and Proactiveness: A self-starter who takes initiative to identify areas of improvement or opportunities and proactively addresses them. Ability to work independently, drive projects forward, and anticipate future challenges or needs, ensuring the team stays ahead of requirements and goals.
  • Problem Solving and Decision-Making: Solid problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze challenges, propose solutions, and make high-level decisions with minimal oversight, including on negotiations with key food companies, policy decisions, which cross-departmental projects we pursue, and how we allocate time and resources. Approach challenges with a solution-oriented mindset, using creativity and critical thinking to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
