About The Role
The Temporary Benefits Coordinator serves as a bridge role covering core benefits operations during the search for a permanent Sr. Benefits Analyst. Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards and People Operations, this individual will keep day-to-day benefits administration, employee support, carrier billing, and time-sensitive leave and workers’ compensation matters running smoothly for approximately 800 employees across Tides Network and Tides Center. The ideal candidate brings a strong customer service mindset, demonstrated experience delivering responsive and compassionate employee support, and the ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion. The Temporary Benefits Coordinator will engage in people-centered interactions with all stakeholders, demonstrating a high degree of empathy and a commitment to Tides values and JEDI principles in every interaction.
What you will Do
Core Responsibilities
Administer day-to-day benefit programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA, voluntary benefits, COBRA).
Process enrollments, qualifying life event (QLE) changes, terminations, and eligibility tracking.
Monitor and manage the benefits inbox as a daily priority; respond to employee verification requests and routine benefits coordination.
Provide front-line support for routine employee benefits questions; escalate complex or sensitive cases.
Support new hire benefits education and enrollment as part of onboarding.
Billing, Financial Processing & Reconciliation
Own day-to-day carrier billing across all benefit vendors; verify accuracy of monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies.
Administer billing reconciliation in partnership with the reconciliation vendor; resolve retroactive adjustments, terminations, and eligibility mismatches with carriers.
Process invoices, check requests, and payment submissions; partner with Finance and Accounts Payable.
Leave of Absence & Workers' Compensation
Serve as the day-to-day point of contact with the third-party LOA vendor administering FMLA, ADA, state leave laws, and STD/LTD; respond to vendor questions and keep internal eligibility records aligned.
Administer Paid Family Leave (PFL) forms and processing for employees.
Manage workers’ compensation claims communications with employees, carriers, and vendor.
Serve as point of contact for OSHA logs.
What you will Bring
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive employee information with discretion.
Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ERISA, COBRA).
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to ramp up quickly and work independently.
Strong team player and willing to assist during this transitional period.
Ideal Experience
Prior hands-on experience administering group benefits (medical/dental/vision, leave, workers’ compensation) at a mid-size organization.
3 years’ experience working in ADP Workforce Now in a benefits/HR capacity.
Experience with carrier billing reconciliation and invoice processing.
Advanced Excel proficiency.
Experience liaising with third-party LOA or workers’ comp vendors.
Experience operating in a multi-state, remote first, and geographically distributed workforce, preferred.
