The Role

Are you passionate about leveraging cutting-edge technology to drive positive social change? Do you possess expertise in Generative AI and have a desire to apply your skills in the realm of social justice? If so, Tides invites you to join our team as a volunteer Generative AI Engineer.

As a Generative AI Engineer volunteer, you will play a crucial role in advancing our mission by developing innovative AI-driven solutions that empower our partners and stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, activists, and thought leaders who are committed to creating a more just and equitable society.

This volunteer role offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical expertise in AI to real-world social justice initiatives, gain valuable experience, and make a tangible difference in the lives of marginalized communities. What you will Do

  • Design, develop, and implement products that incorporate generative models, knowledge retrieval, and task-specific prompt engineering
  • Design and implement RAG-based workflows with vector solutions to enhance content generation and information retrieval
  • Find creative solutions to bypass existing LLM blind spots
  • Research and stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in Generative AI

Availability

  • Ideally at least 2-3 hours per week
  • Willingness to be on the team for at least 6 months
  • Please note: this opportunity is limited to volunteers who are based in the United States.

Education & Experience

  • 2-3+ years of hands-on experience in a technical role, specifically focusing on generative AI, with a strong emphasis on building RAG pipelines
  • Experience with vector databases
  • Experience building RAG pipelines before
  • Expertise with cloud services (ideally Azure)
