Position Summary: We are expanding our team to increase the capacity of an in-house team rather than relying heavily on 3rd parties for software development. The Software Developer is an early-career role for a back-end or front-end developer who is flexible and eager to learn and grow. UNITE HERE has a very strong commitment to developing staff into senior roles. The Software Developer will be supported on a range of projects by Sr. Software Developers and long-term Consultant partners in order to master the languages, techniques, and processes of software development. The Software Developer will at times work directly with technical staff at Local Unions, consultants, or vendors to advance the goals of the end user.

Job Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Collaborate with team members and clients to support required applications and in the support, maintenance, and new development of our tools.
• Create and implement design plans.
• Communicate development plans, progress and risks.
• Keep up to date with industry trends and technology developments.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

• Three to five years of professional software development experience
• Motivation to work for economic and social justice
• Working knowledge of Angular, Python or Ruby, SQL and other high-level programming languages
• Experience using git source control on a team project
• Ability to travel occasionally
• Expectation of participation in core Union activities

Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid (minimum three days in the office)

Location: New York, NY (will consider New Haven, CT or Philadelphia, PA with regular day trips to work from NYC)

Salary: $74,000-$76,000, commensurate with experience.
