ABOUT SWING LEFT

Swing Left’s mission is simple: we make it easy for people to maximize their impact on the most competitive elections to help Democrats win. Since launching in 2017, Swing Left’s one million members have raised more than $140 million for Democratic candidates, civic organizations, and voter mobilization efforts, and engaged more than 50 million voters door-to-door, by phone, and through handwritten letters. What makes us different:

  • Swing Left is singularly focused on directing grassroots time and money to help Democrats win close races that will determine the balance of power in our government, from the White House to key state houses.
  • We use data and technology to increase volunteer and donor impact by driving the right resources to the right campaigns, at the right time.
  • We put people first, delivering a member experience focused on strategic action, not noise—no spam emails, texts, or doomsday messaging.

JOB SUMMARY

Swing Left’s organizing program supports volunteers to build, lead, and engage events and groups of volunteers in their communities to help elect Democrats in the most competitive races through canvassing and phone banking.

This role is focused on Ground Truth, Swing Left’s people-powered organizing program designed to help Democrats win back power by reimagining how we talk with voters. Traditional voter contact often focuses on likely Democratic voters and starts too late to meaningfully persuade people who are undecided or disengaged. Ground Truth is built to change that.

Ground Truth Organizers support the day-to-day execution of the program by recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers to knock on doors and make phone calls. Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct a high volume of volunteer recruitment and follow-up phone calls
  • Provide direct support to canvass and phone bank hosts via phone, email, and text, including one-on-one check-in calls to ensure hosts feel confident and prepared to run their events
  • Facilitate virtual trainings via Zoom for volunteers and hosts, including canvass host trainings, phone bank trainings, and Ground Truth orientations
  • Make confirmation calls to volunteers signed up for canvasses, phone banks, and other events to improve turnout and participation
  • Lead and participate in virtual phone banks
  • Serve as part of an on-call rotation for evenings and weekends to support active canvasses and respond to volunteer host needs in real time
  • Assist with event logistics, including securing venues, coordinating materials, making recruitment calls, and confirming attendance
  • Keep internal tracking tools and systems (including Slack, Asana, and EveryAction) up to date to ensure accurate reporting and communication across teams

NOTE: This is a cycle-based position that will end on November 30, 2026. This is a primarily remote role, with occasional in-person responsibilities that may require travel. The role also requires regular evening and weekend work to support volunteer engagement.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A demonstrated commitment to equity and belonging across all identities including but not limited to race, gender, sexual orientation, age and ability. A specific track record of a commitment to BIPOC communities
  • One cycle of grassroots volunteer organizing experience in an electoral context
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of voter contact (including door knocking, high traffic canvassing, and phone banking) and electoral organizing strategies (including recruiting volunteers, team building, and managing volunteer leaders)
  • Strong relationship management and prioritization skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of comfort with tools and technology used to support organizing (including Slack, VAN, email, digital platforms, and phone banking platforms)
