About VoteVets Action Fund
VoteVets Action Fund is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, whose primary purpose is to advocate for issues impacting troops, veterans, and their families. VoteVets Action Fund (VVAF) focuses on matters including, but not limited to, foreign policy (including war-making policy), veterans’ unemployment, robust investment in care for veterans, energy security, protecting the rights of those who serve, and upholding the Constitution and democracy.
About the Position
VVAF is seeking a full-time Communications Director to formulate and execute a strategy to lead the organization’s communications department into the future. The ideal candidate will bring prior experience running a communications effort for an issue-advocacy organization, government office, or campaign. The Communications Director will oversee all public communications for the organization and, more importantly, know how and when to leverage different channels in a well-thought-out strategy to achieve organizational goals.
Responsibilities
The communications director will oversee the social media director and ensure the social media plan aligns with the overall communications plan. The communications director will also work with other section leads across the organization to advance their departmental and organizational goals.
Experience
Ideal candidates should have proven experience communicating outside of traditional media in a strategic way and display an ability to strategically leverage a wide array of platforms and outlets in a comprehensive and organized way – from podcasts and influencers to Reddit and YouTube to the New York Times and Politico.
