Responsibilities:

Content Strategy (35%)

  • Define a clear strategic content vision for projects.
    • Plan and lead discovery workshops and interviews.
    • Conduct content, analytics, and landscape audits.
    • Collaborate with Creative Directors and team leads to understand audience behavior.
    • Develop content strategies, including substance, structure, workflow, and governance.
    • Provide recommendations for digital metrics and KPIs.
  • Lead discussions on content strategy and messaging best practices.
  • Partner with Project Management and Engineering teams to ensure user-facing goals are met.

Content Planning, Execution, & Writing (55%)

  • Lead content development and migration, including template requirements and content recommendations.
  • Train clients on best practices for web content production and writing.
  • Partner with clients to determine editorial needs and governance.
  • Assist with technical content integration.
  • Write on-brand, audience-centered copy for digital deliverables.
  • Mentor junior team members in content strategy and communication skills.
  • Provide written documentation and guidance to clients to help create, maintain, and measure engaging content.
Secondary Responsibilities (10%):
  • Contribute to sales and business development.
  • Seek opportunities for innovation in content strategy and editorial production.
  • Collaborate internally to optimize content workflows and processes.
  • Provide thought leadership on content issues like search, sharing, and personalization.
  • Support agency marketing efforts with case studies and social media copy.
  • Exemplify user-centric design culture and principles.

Experience / Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in content strategy, design, or user experience.
  • Proven experience in content mapping, taxonomy development, and information architecture.
  • Strategic thinker in digital content strategy, storytelling, content architecture, and user experiences.
  • Understanding of nonprofit organizations and campaigns.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams and translate business requirements into user-centered approaches.
  • Solid understanding of SEO, tagging strategies, and taxonomy frameworks.
  • Experience with content management systems and processes.
  • Ability to create content development and migration plans.
  • Intermediate understanding of Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Tag Manager.
  • Knowledge of interaction design best practices and advanced Figma skills.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
  • Highly creative and resourceful with a passion for the work.

Bonus Points

  • Interest in progressive politics and progressive causes
  • Knowledge of CRMs and popular advocacy tools (e.g., Salesforce, EveryAction, Actblue)
  • Ability to train content authors on content management systems

Annual salary: $90-115k plus benefits (or contract equivalent)
