The Mid-Atlantic Elections Director will lead our work supporting WFP-endorsed candidates and building winning campaign infrastructure across Pennsylvania. This position is responsible for managing endorsement processes, candidate services, campaign coaching, and coordination across our network of staff, volunteers, and political allies. The Elections Director will be a key strategist in our fight to elect transformational leaders up and down the ballot—from local offices to statewide races.
Key Responsibilities
- Candidate & Campaign Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for WFP-endorsed candidates and their campaigns across the Mid-Atlantic region. Coordinating with local political staff if they are in that region.
- Provide coaching on campaign planning, field, fundraising, staffing, messaging, and compliance.
- Coordinate access to party resources including training, staff support, volunteers, data, and communications infrastructure.
- Supporting candidates by fundraising on their behalf, with a goal of raising between $50,000 to $100,000 for candidates, using WFP vended finance services and Party networks to bundle significant resources on behalf of endorsed candidates.
- Political Strategy & Coordination
- Develop and execute political plans to win priority races, in close coordination with the Political Director, local political leads, and national WFP staff.
- Represent WFP in strategic coalitions, partner convenings, and electoral alliances.
- Track and analyze political trends, district changes, and opportunities for growth.
- Leadership Development & Training
- Create, organize and facilitate trainings for candidates, campaign managers, and volunteers.
- Support ongoing development of WFP’s leadership pipeline and alumni network.
- Help build a culture of co-governance with elected officials.
- Candidate Recruitment & Endorsement
- Lead the candidate pipeline, vetting, and endorsement process in coordination with the State Director and Political Committee.
- Identify and recruit movement-aligned candidates, with a focus on women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and working-class leaders.
- Coordinate endorsement questionnaires, interviews, political research, and deliberations.
Skills and Qualifications
- Required:
- 5+ years of experience in political campaigns, candidate recruitment, or campaign consulting.
- Deep understanding of electoral strategy and campaign mechanics (field, comms, fundraising, compliance).
- Experience supporting or managing campaigns, preferably at both local and state levels.
- Strong communication and coaching skills; ability to build trust with diverse candidates and teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice.
- Preferred:
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania political geography, players, and power structures.
- Experience with electoral data platforms (VAN, Mobilize, NGP, etc.).Bilingual or multilingual a plus.
- Experience as a former candidate, campaign manager, or political staffer.
Location and Travel: This is a hybrid role requiring you to work in person at PAWFPs Philly office and/or various locations for meetings and events in Philadelphia and Leigh County/ PA. You may need to travel for major events and all staff meetings a few times per year.
Schedule: The position is permanent and full time.
Union Affiliation: WFP is a unionized workplace. This is a managerial role that is not eligible to join WFP's staff bargaining unit.
