Why We’re Hiring A Policy Analyst

WorkMoney’s Research & Policy work has become more and more cross-functional in the last year, meaning, we work closely with team members in all departments. We provide curated research and analysis to teams focused on member communications, while also doing fact checking and copyediting of messages for members when communicating about emergent policy and political news. In the next year, our portfolio will expand as we look to provide fact based research and analysis on policy issues across more issue areas and jurisdictions. To continue doing this work well, WorkMoney is creating an additional role to increase our research capacity to support this growing body of work.


What You’ll Be Responsible For

The Policy Associate will focus on providing policy analysis and research support, as directed by the Senior Director of Government Affairs. You’ll be a member of the policy, research and legislative affairs teams, while also working directly with teams responsible for digital and field-based member communications.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Research and organize information: discover, research, and organize information about new programs, taxes, and benefits at the state, local, and federal levels that will put dollars back in the pockets of WorkMoney members
  • Write original policy memos: research, write and edit memos that analyze policies/laws, highlighting model policies and provisions that benefit WorkMoney members
  • Compile and track publicly shared data on financial security: research and compile statistics and research reports from external sources regarding the financial security of everyday Americans
  • Attend and cull insight from external events: seek out and attend policy and research briefings sponsored by partner organizations; and, provide timely updates from partner events to cross-team stakeholders where relevant
  • Collaborate with outside organizations: build relationships and collaborate with other partners in the financial services sectors to share research and information.
  • Edit and review external policy communications: review WorkMoney’s external communications (e.g. member communications, website text, op-eds) for policy accuracy
  • Provide general administrative support: provide support as needed to the Senior Director of Legislative Affairs. Examples of assignments may include:
    • Reviewing and compiling member comments to send to Congressional offices
    • Drafting emails
    • Preparing fact sheets, talking points, and slide decks

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

This role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and across teams at WorkMoney.

  • Prior experience working for or with non-profit organizations on policy issues

Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience working on government benefits implementation
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and local tax credits and benefits
  • Familiarity with on-going research at other non-profit organizations

The salary for this role is $65,000 - $70,000 annually.
